An astonishing debut bursting with texture, tension, and technical brilliance—Undergone is undeniable.

We found this electrifying band out of Katowice, Poland, and their raw sonic presence instantly grabbed us. From their aesthetic to their sound, Undergone demands attention, and we’re thrilled to share our experience listening to their debut single, “Falling Apart.”

With a distorted guitar crashing in like an emotional outburst, the track opens on a gripping and unfiltered note. The guitar work doesn’t feel rehearsed or mechanical; it comes across as an extension of feeling, almost like a conversation rather than a performance. Kamil Orszulik’s guitar tone is laced with atmospheric reverb that echoes with intentional chaos, creating an almost call-and-response effect within the playing itself. That texture reminded us of early Sonic Youth, with that same blend of unpredictability and instinct, yet it never slips into imitation. Instead, “Falling Apart” finds its own ground, grounded in authenticity and driven by sheer emotional weight.

Undergone makes a strong statement by refusing to compress their vision into a radio-ready format. At over five minutes, the song rejects commercial limitations and instead leans fully into artistic expression. That choice proves to be one of the track’s greatest strengths, allowing the band to stretch out, breathe, and sculpt the piece without constraints. The result is a progression that feels natural and alive rather than formulaic.

Then comes the shift: just as you begin to feel immersed in the ambience, like your body is dissolving into your surroundings, a surge of momentum sweeps in. The full band hits, and it’s a visceral experience. Alicja Więcław’s basslines are thunderous and expansive, anchoring the sonic landscape with a seismic presence. Mikołaj Żarski’s drumming is deliberate and detailed, balancing intricate fills with precise, heavy-hitting rhythm. Orszulik and Dawid Bestry’s guitars clash and intertwine with a volatile intensity, screaming with dissonance yet locking in to create something unexpectedly unified. It’s a collision of parts that becomes a single, driving force, unpredictable and thrilling, like a storm unfolding in slow motion.

As the song evolves, it pulls back with a remarkable sense of timing. Just when the energy peaks, the band reins it in with precision. This shift creates space for Wiktoria Borecka’s vocals to emerge, not as a dominant focal point, but as another layer within the mix. The production doesn’t elevate her voice above the music, it folds it into the soundscape. That decision works beautifully, making the vocal entry feel like a change in emotion rather than in structure. Borecka delivers each line with restraint and vulnerability, offering a tone that’s casual in delivery but rich with nuance. Her phrasing often dances between the notes, adding a subtle musicality that treats the voice as another instrument, rather than a separate channel amd we absolutely loved this technique.

This integration of vocals and instrumentation continues to elevate the track. The way Borecka stretches syllables and glides through vocal runs feels like a soaring instrument cutting through the haze, graceful, gripping, and completely in sync with the band’s energy. It adds a second act to the song that’s less about impact and more about atmosphere, but still just as powerful.

Later, a jarring start-stop interlude crashes through the mix like a warning siren, clearing a path for a spellbinding vocal passage. Borecka's delivery here feels untethered, her voice stretching and lifting like wings in free flight. And following that, the transition into the guitar solo feels like a moment of pure catharsis. Orszulik and Bestry let loose, their guitars wailing with a distorted anguish that’s almost human in tone. It’s a rush of emotion that grips the listener with the kind of intensity you don’t just hear, you physically feel.

One of the most standout elements in “Falling Apart” is how addictive each member’s contributions are. Every time one of them steps out, even momentarily, you feel their absence like a void. It’s a testament to how integral each performance is. That sensation of loss between their parts actually heightens their presence, making every return feel essential and deeply satisfying.

The ending is just as compelling as the opening, though stylistically distinct. Rather than looping back or fading out, the band opts for a dramatic and unexpected closure, adding yet another emotional twist to the journey. It’s a perfect embellishment that brings the performance full circle while refusing to settle for the obvious.

What also impressed us is how cohesive and emotionally connected Undergone is as a unit. From Borecka’s expressive vocal control to the explosive interplay between Orszulik and Bestry’s guitars, Więcław’s commanding basslines, and Żarski’s rhythmic precision, the band performs like a collective mind operating at full tilt. From its noise-drenched solo to its shoegaze-soaked harmonies, “Falling Apart” is a genre-blurring triumph that left us completely floored.

We’re genuinely excited to have found them, and can’t wait to hear what they do next.
