We loved finding new-to-us artist Finlay Birch and his latest release, “Inside Your Mind,” which was both chill and euphoric, leaving us feeling like this artist is definitely on a breakout path.
“Inside Your Mind” starts off with a very memorable synth slide and a dynamic flow, supported by an exciting, dramatic, and powerful drum fill.
Finlay Birch then enters with an emotional and riveting performance that we felt was the perfect complement to the beautiful, audience-engaging world he creates with his musical arrangement. Birch is very memorable, possesses a glowing and wide vocal presence, and controls the world he exists in. Slow and growing, his vocals roll in like a low and slow fog. From this release alone, it’s clear that his vocals are his absolute standout quality. They flow and grow in a way that feels like a hypnotic, magical display.
We loved how the song presents itself as a simple lo-fi experience, but really has an intricate drum line, outstanding lyrics, and an amazing vocal demonstration. All of this makes the song a memorable experience for the audience.
It’s also really surprising that this music began in his bedroom. The sound is such perfect support to his emphatic delivery and magnetic lyrical wordplay.
We also saw Birch's live videos, proving his skills are most definitely genuine even when fully stripped back, and something to revel in.
With all this, we feel Finlay Birch has created something unique and exciting, making this a terrific accomplishment for him.
