Cherry Bomb releases “Sunset BLVD,” and it hits so hard that it brings back the best era of rock and roll music!
This band's hard rock album bleeds hair spray, wears spandex and has its own arrest record. We checked it out, and man, is it a party!
“Love Hurts” is an emotional broken-hearted emotional tribute to how love can break hearts and the toll it can take. HELLO!!!!!! I guess you weren't listening because this ain’t no harlequin romance. It's rock and roll, baby! This song is 100% the exact opposite. It bursts out into your ear canal like a fireball. With catchy and kick-ass hooks and riffs and a chorus we have all wanted to tattoo on our body at one point, Cherry Bomb screams, “One finger two words…FUCK YOU, FUCK YOU!” and it's a breath of fresh air. We don't need another broken-hearted love song, is what Cherry Bomb is telling us! If there has ever been a tribute infused with RATT, Crue, and what Bon Jovi should have been, then this is it! The guitar riffs are animalistic. The drums are blazing, and the bass rumbles through your bones. 4 words from us, GUITAR SOLO!!! HELL YEAH!
“Sunset BLVD” is like a hardcore version of “I just died in your arms tonight”. This music is the literal return of hair glam metal and to its true birthplace. FYI this band is made up of a German-based group of dudes who are Chris P- Nuttz (vox, guitar), Vince Vixxen (lead guitar, backing vox), Ben Dover (drums), Don Diego Duarte (bass, backing vox) and Neil N. Blomee (keys, backing vox). So when you hear the words, “Where everybody wants to be a star,” it's actual honesty in lyricism. Where else in the world can you go to experience this reality? This song has a beautiful melody and is performed beautifully. As comedic as this band presents itself, this sound is anything but a joke. It’s a really talented group performing this really great album. This track belongs in the ending credits of a movie. Do not miss the final guitar solo! Also, again, the vocal presentation was excellent, and the musical arrangement was wonderful.
“Especially “ was next up on the docket. It’s a softer and gentler side of this crazy party band. One more time, this is proof and a testament to the abilities of this group. The bassline pulls forward on this track and won us over. Nice job!
“Whisky a Go Go.” I guess this is a famous place in California. Never heard of it. Anyway, this song is a much-needed tribute to the birthplace of most iconic bands of the last few generations. This song manages to be as iconic as the location itself, and it’s just another fantastic song. “Getting high on moonshine outside the backdoor, till we’re so fuckin hammered, we’re flat on the floor!” is as true to life as it comes!
“Caribbean Summer” is these guys once again showing their musical chops. They can go all the way to 11 when necessary but can sing out a beautiful tune that can be the song of the summer when they want to.
Y.D.F.O.C must have been written with the help of the revived brain of Bon Scott. AC/DC would proudly hand the mic over to hear Cherry Bomb blast out this screaming and fire-breathing heavy-ass track.
“Forever and a Day” wraps it all up by giving us a true to 80s rock song, the power ballad. It’s an inspiring song with elements of Tyler and Springsteen that uplift your spirits and the ‘Whoooooaaaaaa” carries on and says “I Love You Forever and a Day” This is a really pretty song and it’s perfect because every rock and roller in their heart is truly a big softee and this band knows how to fill that much needed sweet spot.
This band is tremendously talented, and if you don’t know them, you are missing out. This is a great record and really deserves some serious airplay. It would latch on to listeners immediately. Check out the ending pianos blended with the guitar solo; it’s absolutely fantastic.
You need to get this album off your favorite platform and lock it into your favorite metal playlists! Just in case you started partying when this came on and you are halfway to blackout drunk while reading this, it's “Sunset BLVD” by Cherry Bomb!
