An electrifying triumph of style, energy, and swagger from Ben Hazlewood at his absolute best
Ben Hazlewood just dropped a killer remix of one of his standout tracks, and we’re all in. The new release, "Too Loud for Tokyo (NERVO Remix)," brings fresh energy to a song we already couldn’t get enough of.
If you didn’t already know, the original, "Too Loud for Tokyo," dropped a few months back and came in hot with chill, rhythmic energy and vivid storytelling. It kicked off with a line about clawing a car back from a pawn shop. That paycheck-to-paycheck grind hit hard, and the visuals had Ben posted up in alleyways and bathtubs, living wild and loud.
Ben’s vocals were magnetic, riding thick guitar chords and a groove that morphed into a disco-tinged chorus without losing its rock edge.
The hook,
“If you’re running from me, I hope you stay there,”
-still hits. It’s sharp, bold, and smooth. The whole thing felt like a wild night you barely remember but never forget.
This latest remix, "Too Loud for Tokyo (NERVO Remix)," feels like a sequel that outdoes the original. It’s like deciding to party even harder, and this time, everything hits differently.
Right from the jump, Ben comes in with one of our favorite lines,
“I hope you stay there.”
It echoes through reverberated layers and is pinned down by a pounding nightclub beat that gets your adrenaline racing. The edited vocals are a perfect touch, slicing through the mix like lasers. The cutting synths rip through the air, adding this razor-sharp edge we loved.
We were all about how the chorus was introduced right from the start. It's got that jump-up-and-down energy that makes you wanna move. Honestly, this song feels like it was always meant to reach this stage of controlled audio psychosis-inducing sensations. It sounds even more at home in this high-energy arrangement. The thunderous drops and relentless high BPM feel like a level-up from the original. And those experimental synth bursts flying around like a rock guitar solo? Next level.
The production is spot on, too. It really leans into Ben’s vocals, pulling out the best moments and lining them up to hit harder in this new context. If you’re new to the track, this remix is gonna make you wanna go back and find the original (fyi - we stuck the link in for the original video down below for you late comers). And if you already know it, this version grabs you all over again. It’s built for a packed room full of people tossing back shots and losing it to the beat.
Overall, we’re seriously impressed with this release. It's high-energy, super polished, and still keeps all the raw emotion and vocal power Ben is known for. A total standout and a remix that’s gonna get a lot of love.
