Returning to prove exactly why we were right when we first found this amazing band, Awaiting Abigail come back with their latest release, “Funhouse,” and its outstanding cinematic music video counterpart, showing just how powerful this band really is.
“Funhouse” opens with a classical feel, but it is the eerie, childlike atmosphere and creepy energy that really sell the moment and grab your attention immediately. Skulls, old dolls that look like zombies, and haunting visuals pull you right into the world of the video before the band even fully breaks open.
Then the airwaves get hit with incredible force. Kori Tolfa on keys, Heather Hammonds on drums, James Smith on guitar, Laurie Barnett on bass, and Abigail Hill on vocals all let loose as the band takes the stage. The visuals flash between the performance and a seance-like, devilish ritual, giving the whole production a dark, theatrical charge that is absolutely amazing.
As the song builds, Hill’s vocals enter and lift the performance into the kind of magnificent level Awaiting Abigail has already proven they can deliver. Hammonds’ cymbal-smashing drums, Barnett’s ground-shaking bass, Smith’s gritty guitar lines, and Tolfa’s keys that rattle the senses form the backbone of a sound that hits like tidal waves of water smashing into you.
Once again, Hill’s lead vocals are stellar. Her power and range completely mesmerize the listener, and this time, she sounds stronger than ever. Hill rings out like an air raid siren, filling the track with emotion, energy, and command. But what stands out just as much is the connection of the band as a unit. There is precision, grace, and control in the way they perform together, almost echoing the classical feeling introduced at the very beginning, while still carrying the grit and pure explosiveness of the heavy rock and roll this band so beautifully represents.
Awaiting Abigail is a true standout in the music arena. The filming, cinematic edits, and attention to detail put them in a category all by themselves. Bringing that much excitement into a short-form film with a full storyline was euphoric, and we also want to commend the acting and directing. Marc Coronado of The Crowned Studios delivers compelling videography, direction, and production, while the audio production from Alex Gerst of Empire Sound Studios gives the track its force and clarity. Gerst’s work, alongside the mix by Tom Lord-Alge, helps bring “Funhouse” into full, towering form.
We really can’t get enough of Awaiting Abigail.

LYRICS
You flip a switch turn off the light in my soul
I already know
What the game is
Trying to take back control
Won’t let me go
You cant break me anymore
I found a way out of your funhouse
Now I know what’s real
You can’t hurt me
Don’t deserve me
And you never will
Whoa
Gonna get what’s coming for ya
Whoa
Look in the mirror how can you like what you see
Your such a freak
And I can’t wait to watch you fall apart at the seams
Revenge is so sweet
You can’t break me anymore
I found my way out of your funhouse
Now I know what’s real
You can’t hurt me don’t deserve me and you never will
Whoa
Whoa
Whoa
Gonna get what’s coming for ya
Woah
Gonna get what’s coming for ya
