Girl Tones Tear Into Their Own Fire On “Stubborn Mouth”
Girl Tones return with “Stubborn Mouth,” a sharp, swaggering new rock release via Parallel Vision and Big Loud Rock that turns self-sabotage into something loud, catchy, and fully alive. The sister duo of Kenzie and Laila continue proving they know how to take tension, frustration, and personal flaws and twist them into songs built for volume.
“Stubborn Mouth” leans into the messy side of being headstrong. The track moves with a taunting, playful bite, but underneath that sneer is something more vulnerable. Girl Tones describe the song as a reflection on stubbornness and how refusing to bend can damage your own peace, along with the people around you. It is self-aware without losing its punch.
The official video, directed by Austin Dickerson, adds another layer to the release. Set inside the wood-paneled walls of a retro house, the clip puts Girl Tones in a setting that matches their offbeat rock energy while giving the performance a strange, tempting edge.
Made up of two classically trained sisters, Girl Tones began with Kenzie moving from cello to guitar and Laila shifting from piano to drums. Their early releases were produced by Brad Shultz of Cage The Elephant through Parallel Vision in partnership with Big Loud Rock.
Already praised by outlets including Rolling Stone, VICE, Consequence, PAPER, NME, DORK, and SPIN, Girl Tones have built a reputation for chaotic, electric live shows and a fearless sound that keeps growing louder.
