We found The Kind Hills and their latest album release, Little Epiphanies, and everything about their sound, style, and story has that rare kind of spark that makes you stop scrolling and actually listen. We absolutely loved it and are super excited to turn you on to this amazing global indie-pop collective.
Jumping right into the album release, we started with “All Your Promises,” and its high-energy beats and glowing guitars are like an audible version of what sunshine would probably sound like. The opening drumsticks break the silence, but pull you in, and the rolling bass underneath creates such a rhythmic flow that instantly grabs you. Then, while the guitars continue to tantalize, the vocals come in and create the moment we instantly converted from listeners to fans. With a bright and soft but also far-reaching delivery, we get the magnetic display of smile-invoking, head-bopping excitement. Fiery drum fills run in and out of the spotlight, and the stop-starts jump back and forth with the vocals, making this an absolute win all around!
With 14 incredible releases, we had an impossible time picking out favorites, but another standout track is “Making Memories.” The vocals on display are soft and full, with a gentle delivery that carries on top of a more relaxing instrumental arrangement but is equally compelling as a performance. It felt like we were right there in the room being serenaded, and that real and genuine styling came out in an amazing way with every note.
Instrumentally, the cascading guitar notes and full, rumbling bass really complemented the pointed beats, making the entire performance feel so big. We really loved the gentle country stylings sprinkled throughout. It’s a true genre collision, and it’s beautiful. The soft exit with the glowing, sustained, fading notes was an excellent choice as well.
“Young and Dumb” caught our hearts with the line “I was the driver and you were the dj.” auuughhhhh, this is magic, and probably the most freeing feeling in the world.
Encapsulated in this short lyrical burst is the way we all escape life and experience the things we will probably tell our children to never do. The Kind Hills and this group of minds are an absolutely incredible and talented collective that has captured the sensation of life as powerfully as the bands of the 60s and the era of Woodstock. Not only is this a beautifully performed and sung group of songs, but the lyrics also lasso your feelings and pull them right out of your chest.
If you are looking for that next big breakout artist who will be great at parties, especially any sunlit afternoon campfire and definitely the car ride, then you just found the band you will never forget.
We absolutely adore The Kind Hills, recommend you check out their release Little Epiphanies, and promise not to gatekeep them!
