“Something Else” by Sarah Brunner released on May 8th is an immediately captivating experience, and after just one listen, we were hooked.

“Something Else” breaks the silence with powerful rhythm guitar and an even more profound vocal performance from Sarah Brunner. Her soft-to-robust delivery really helps carry the message of disconnection and digital burnout, giving the track both emotional weight and modern relevance. The beauty in her tone and presentation made us wonder how we have not crossed paths with her sooner. With over 15 years of live performance behind her, it is clear she has used that time to sharpen her voice, presence, and songwriting, and it truly pays off with the release of “Something Else.”

Based out of Seattle, Brunner taps into the rich 90s spirit connected to that city, while blending it with an Americana and folk foundation that sounds new, refreshing, and fully her own. The long-held notes on “all alone” are inspiring and literally mesmerizing, pulling the listener deep into the emotion of the track. Then, when the song breaks down into those stripped acoustic and near-acapella moments, it leaves the performance on one of its richest and highest points.

The song had us on the edge of our seats while still somehow making us feel fully relaxed, and we could not stop going back for repeated listens just to absorb the incredible power she wields with her voice. The finale carries true mainstream artist energy, with an ending that falls away just enough to literally leave you hanging on for more. On top of all of that, the engineering captures and preserves her true vocal prowess, allowing every emotional detail to come through clearly. It is the kind of song that makes its way right to your favorite playlist.

A Michigan native and now Seattle-based artist, Sarah Brunner performs both solo and with her band, The Hipocrats. With rhythm guitar at the center of her sound, she brings a grounded, honest, and deeply intentional approach to this new chapter in her music. Her writing also reflects her passion as a queer artist using her voice to help raise the profile of queer voices within the Americana and folk music community, a space where that perspective deserves to be heard with strength and clarity.

We loved this performance and are excited to be part of amplifying such a bright, shining voice in the Americana and folk scene. “Something Else” is beautiful, thoughtful, and truly memorable.
