Oscar Eriyal, a rising star in the pop scene, has made a notable leap with his latest single, “VENUS,” released under his label, Eriyal Records, on September 1st.

This track marks Eriyal's first foray into R&B, a significant departure from his previous pop and Latin records. Known for his approach to not being controlled by industry boundaries and making music from his heart and mind. Eriyal has a history of combining multiple genres and languages into his work, consistently breaking boundaries which has proven popular with fans and industry critics.

We were very excited when we learned all of this and even more excited to listen to this artist's music as we had not heard them before. Jumping right in, the R & B infusion is just remarkable. You immediately start swinging back and forth to the captivating rhythm. If authenticity is ever in question, there is no doubt that Eriyal is a force in multi-genre music and will be a stand out in the R&B arena when you listen to this performance. With the sweet and sultry delivery you hang on every word and the delivery goes from lightning fast seamlessly and in seconds. This song is hypnotizing and keeps you fixated on every word.

We fell head over heels for this:

“It’s just us two versus the worldwide population…”

Damn, we love this! There are sweet synths in the background that just literally puts the whip cream topping on this already delicious track. If you’re in a room with anyone and this song comes on, you’re likely to dance with them regardless of how well you know that person they’re gonna want to!

“Girl you’re unreal. I need you to know I haven’t felt this from no one before”

The sexy and dripping with lustful lyrical display is tremendous.

Towards the end of the song, you get a feel for the track practically all by itself; and just keeps your body moving. This track is going to be on repeat in your car, in the house, in the bedroom, and anywhere you have somewhere to play music.

We are going to keep track of this singer, songwriter, producer, and founder of his own record label. This artist is now proving themselves as a pioneer in the music industry from all directions.

You can find this on any major platform and see below for links to take you straight to some of the profiles. Make sure to playlist, stream, and share Oscar Eriyal’s “VENUS”.

Powerful Quote about this artist:

Eriyal describes the track as a personal milestone: “What makes ‘VENUS’ such a special record for me is how much of a risk I felt making it. As someone who’s always leaned towards Pop and Latin styles in my music, I was nervous that experimenting with R&B wouldn’t sound authentic. Once I took the risk, though, it became one of my favorite songs I’ve ever made. Take that risk, try something new—you never know what could come out of it!”

Wait, there's more!

We caught up with this exciting and emerging artist, for:

“The Cage” Music Blog, to talk about music and learn more about them.

Here’s how it went:

Begin Interview

Hello, thank you so much for having me!

Hello Oscar Eriyal, thanks for talking to us!

How long have you been making music?

I've been making music for about four years now, I started recording professionally in 2021, and it's been an amazing journey ever since

We see how you utilize multiple genres and styles to create your music and this is very exciting. What are your favorite genres of music and what are your favorite to blend?

I love all types of musical genres and styles. From RnB, to Indie Pop, to Hip Hop, and Rock, the list goes on and on! I honestly vibe with anything. What I love to blend the most in my own music is my Latin and my Pop roots. I originally started making Indie Pop music, but it didn't take long for me to want to showcase my Latino Heritage. I love fusing and showcasing these two cultures in my work because I feel like it represents who I am the most.

Was there always a desire to create music, or did you have an event in your life that made you realize this is what you want to do as a profession?

Music has always been my passion. It's been a huge part of my life since I was a baby. There's VHS videos of me at two years old jamming along to my parents' music in the car. I've always had a special connection to it! However, I think the moment that made me certain that this is the career I wanna follow was when I was twelve and performed for the first time. The rush of adrenaline I felt was unlike anything I had ever experienced before, I truly fell in love with the arts in that moment.

What emotion do you feel inspires your writing process the most, ie sadness, worry, happiness etc.?

I don't have a specific type of emotion that inspires me the most, but I do know that intense emotions in general are what give me inspiration. Wether it's love, heartbreak, nostalgia, any feeling that's impactful tends to get me picking up the pen and expressing myself.

Can you walk us through your songwriting process and where the inspiration comes from for this latest project, ‘VENUS’?

I wrote Venus during a very passionate time in a relationship, it was like a honeymoon phase. I was just feeling lot of love and passion for a girl that I hadn't felt in a long time, so I needed to express myself. Venus stands out to me a lot because it changed my approach to songwriting. Usually I sit down and write a song for hours before I even touch a microphone, but this song actually got me into a new habit of punching in lyrics. I recorded myself freestyling to the instrumental, mumbling lines and exploring melodies. After I finished that I just started to fill in the words, it was like a puzzle! It just made the workflow faster and allowed me to focus on different aspects of the song individually. Lots of times, when writing down lyrics first I tend to overthink and get in my head a lot because I'm trying to balance too many things at once. With this new method, I stopped thinking and just started feeling. I got on the microphone and just let my emotions pour out. This way, I focused on expression and melodies first, and then worried about touching up lyrics after. It definitely helped with the songwriting process of this song and many other songs to come!

Can you describe to us the theme for your cover and visual artwork, and what was the inspiration and intention for the observer to absorb from it?

I wanted this entire song to feel very ethereal and out of this world, much like how love feels to me, so I definitely wanted to reflect that in the cover art. In the song, I say that this girl I was with is a work of art, comparing her to the Birth of Venus, a beautiful painting that I'm a huge fan of. I wanted to incorporate this into the cover, but it took some time to get it right. It started with pictures of me, which are the usual covers of my records, but I felt like it didn't fit the theme. I tried using the actual Birth of Venus painting, but it just didn't feel right either. Eventually, I came across this painting that was inspired from the Birth of Venus, and I knew it was the one. It was ethereal, it was beautiful, but it also felt like it was part of the record. I want people stumbling across this song to get a vibe of what the song is gonna be before they even hit play, and I think this cover art does it perfectly.

What instrument do you use as the foundation to start your musical creations with?

I always start with my vocals. Some artists like getting chords and instrumentals in first. But most of the time I write my songs with lyrics and vocal melodies before anything else. However, when producing, I'm a big piano guy. I love getting the main melody of the instrumental in before anything, and I tend to lay that down with piano (at least for early demos.)

What instruments do you play? Which is your favorite?

I'm mainly a vocalist, but I play keys too. Singing is my forte, so I'd say that's my favorite.

Where do you create your music, i.e. in a home recording studio or with a producer? How do you finalize your finished work, ie self-mixed/mastered or another source?

It depends, really. In my older records, I wasn't experienced and needed a lot of guidance (I still do of course) so I went to a recording studio to get a lot of my tracks done with Dan The Man, hands down one of the best engineers and mentors in New York City. However, I've studied music production and I now have a home studio, which is where I record and mix most of my records nowadays. However, when a mix is more intense and I feel like I need an extra hand on it, I still bring the work in to the studio. Venus was entirely written, recorded and mixed by myself at home, but it was mastered by the incredibly talented Mark Matter at Record House, shoutout to Record House!

What was the most challenging part of bringing this project to life, from the initial idea to the final recording?

I think the most challenging part of this record was the genre change. I've always liked fusing and incorporating different styles in my music, but they always had my pop roots as a foundation. With this song however, it was my first time exploring RnB (despite some of my main influences being artists like Frank Ocean) and I felt like I was taking a big risk. Venturing into a genre I've never really touched before artistically had me feeling like it wasn't gonna sound authentic or natural, and that's the last thing I want happening in my music. For a while, I was scared of finishing the song and releasing it, but I eventually decided to take the risk and get it past the finish line. I'm happy to say it's turned out to be one of my favorite songs I've ever made. To everyone out there, not just musicians, take that risk! Try something new, step outside your comfort zone, you never know what might come out of it!

We see you are a pioneer of music, but also forging a path in the music industry as a record label, with being the founder of Eriyal Records. What are some of your goals and plans for this as your career grows?

I've always wanted to have my own record label. It's very hard to rise in the music scene as an independent artist, there's tons of talent in the underground that just don't get the recognition they deserve. I plan to grow my brand to a level where I can help other artists get the recognition they deserve under my label. It's just me at the moment since it's very early on in this project, but I definitely intend to grow a team and turn it into a family of incredible artists (not just in music!) in the future.

Where do you see your sound and artistry heading in the future? Are there any exciting new directions you're exploring?

After the positive reactions I've been getting from Venus, I definitely want to continue to dive into the Indie RnB vibes and mold it into a sound of my own. However, in some recent music I've been experimenting with, I've been falling in love with funk and disco, which I think would be really fun to incorporate in my own music!

What is the most inspirational thing a fan, or anyone, has told or shown you about your music?

I think the interaction that has inspired me and touched me the most was when a fan reached out and told me that one of my songs got them through a really dark time in their life. I woke up to that message one morning and I nearly cried. Music has gotten me through so many difficult times, and the fact that one of my songs was able to save a kid the same way music saved me means so much, and gives me more motivation than all the money and acclaim in the world.

We have experienced that many people perform acts of selflessness each day. Once your artistry has reached far and wide, how will you use that more powerful voice to have a bigger positive impact on our world?

As my platform grows more and more, I want to spread as much positivity and inspiration as possible. I want to let people know that no matter what they're going through, they're not alone. I want every kid in the world with a dream, wether it's involved in the arts or not, to realize that if Oscar Eriyal could do it, they most definitely could do it too.

Is there any part of your music's message or your personal purpose you feel fans should know more about? If so, what is that element, and why is it so important to you?

The main message I want to express to my fans is to always be perseverant and not let anything stop you, especially fear. A lot of times, people are afraid to do what they love and accomplish their goals because they're afraid that it won't happen, or they see it as "unrealistic." I don't believe in that word. I think that as long as you truly have passion and perseverance for what you do, you can accomplish whatever your goal is. On my website, my main slogan/motto is to "break the barriers." Life can be difficult, bringing hardships that can sometimes trap you in and make you feel like you're stuck. My message is to break those barriers down, to ignore the fear and negativity holding you back and keep moving forward.
