Piper Connolly released "Kiss Like Me," a high-energy track destined to be a crowd-pleasing favorite. Rivaling some of the best band sounds and vocal abilities, we were stunned by Piper Connolly's recent hard-rocking release. Vocally, we loved the "whooos" added to the lyrical presentation, which will undoubtedly become a crowd favorite at live venues. We were shocked when we learned this artist was only 13 years old. Wow! This song is a powerhouse performance with all the hallmarks of a future pop-rock star. Drawing inspiration from artists like Billy Idol (a favorite of ours) and Olivia Rodrigo, we must say the latter should be looking over her shoulder. Piper Connolly is gaining ground at 180mph in a Corvette Stingray, ready to overtake. This song absolutely crushes it with a high-energy beat supporting blazing guitars and haunting reverbed synths. Her vocal ability is that of a much older person, possessing control and power that cannot be overlooked. The track's infectious energy doesn't stop at the vocals and instrumentals. The lyrics are equally captivating, showcasing a maturity beyond Piper's years. They're relatable yet edgy, perfectly capturing the essence of young love that will resonate with listeners of all ages. The musical arrangement isn't just cool; it must have a great production team behind its crystal-clear sound. The production quality of "Kiss Like Me" is top-notch, rivaling that of major label releases. The mix is perfectly balanced, allowing each element to shine without overshadowing the others. It's a testament to the team behind Piper, who clearly recognizes and knows how to showcase her immense talent. As for Piper's future, it's looking incredibly bright. With this level of talent and professionalism at such a young age, there's no telling how far she'll go. We wouldn't be surprised to see her headlining major tours and dominating charts in the very near future.

From Piper Connolly's team: "The cheeky, fun lyrics sing of the flirtatious notion that the grass is greener where Piper stands. Lyric video and full press campaign planned, as part of a multi-release plan into 2025."

Wait, there's more!

We caught up with this exciting and emerging artist for “The Cage” Music Blog, to talk about music and learn more about them.

Here’s how it went:

Begin Interview

What first sparked the passion for you to create music?

Having people listen to and respond to music along with me was what did it. My first taste of that was at 5 years old, my first performance in front of about 150 people belting out Ziggy Stardust… and I was totally hooked. Later, I dove into learning piano and then guitar and songwriting. And you know, when you write something– in the beginning– it’s just for you. Whether it be for healing, cleansing, whatever…. But when you release it to the world, it becomes something special for each person who listens to it and vibes with it. And that’s really cool. I like to think that my music will appeal to anyone who has experienced love and heartache…. Especially people that are just going through all of that for the first time.

Can you walk us through your songwriting process and tell us where the inspiration comes from for this latest project?

‘kiss like me’ my third single this year and is totally a “grass is greener on THIS side” type of song. It’s fun and flirty and cheeky. It’s about my experience being into this girl who was into this guy… who- don’t get me wrong- he was great; lots of wonderful attributes…. But he doesn’t ‘kiss like me’. Ha! My songwriting process differs from song to song…sometimes it starts as a voice memo on my phone that gets built out…sometimes it’s a riff on a guitar or something on the piano. Sometimes it’s a journal entry that gets music added to it later. ‘kiss like me’ was a poem turned song.

Where do you create your music, i.e., in a home recording studio or with a producer? How do you finalize your finished work, i.e., self-mixed/mastered or another source?

I have a longtime collaborator, Marvin Fockens, with whom I work. He is in Amsterdam, so we collaborate virtually. I track vocals in the studio here and he makes the production magic happen there. He’s honestly the best!

Is any part of your music's message or your personal purpose you feel fans should know more about? If so, what is that element, and why is it so important to you?

It’s really important to me that people are their authentic selves…truly and that includes me. You’ll notice most of my songs sound dissimilar from one another and that’s because I write for how I am feeling that day or that week. Like my “look” changes from day to day, sonically I might feel edgy one day and sensitive the next. I’ve gotten feedback that I should try to sound more like “Billie” or “Taylor” because that’s what’s hot right now, but I don’t want to be the next them, I want to be the first ME.

What has been the most motivating force in creating your music?

The reception from my audience is what drives me the most. Seeing them take the music and make it their own is my absolute favorite part.

What instruments do you play? Which is your favorite?

I play piano and guitar- I love them both but piano is probably my favorite.

What is your favorite song to cover?

Oooh…. Almost anything by Queen….and “Gimme Shelter” by the Rolling Stones…. It’s an amazing, vocally powerful song and I love to perform it whenever I have the opportunity to. There is a video of it on my YouTube channel…and I may or may not be going into the studio to record a profesh cover of it. Wink, wink!

How do you feel about social media?

Ooooh, that’s a good question. I’m super medium on it. Good or bad, it’s a business necessity today and it can be great because it has the ability to create community BUT it can also be super toxic…. I always proceed with caution and take breaks from it whenever I feel like it’s getting to be too much.

What is your favorite method of connecting with fans?

At live shows! Social media is cool and all, but nothing beats meeting people face to face!

When you reach the stage where you have the admiration and respect of other world-known artists, what band or artist would you love to call and say, “Let’s go on tour together”?

The Foo Fighters and The Struts
