Cailo releases a reimagined and modernized cover of “Beautiful Life,” which is already an EDM classic.
A favorite of ours already, this wonderfully talented and infectious artist, musician, and producer, Cailo, took an iconic song that needed no improvement… and made it better. The dance scene already sees this rising star as a force of creativity in the EDM genre, and this song will undoubtedly be pounding in DJ headphones across the world and then splitting said eardrums of the dancers on those very dancefloors.
Starting with a full orchestra sound, we were immediately excited about the choice of musical arrangement. This was a fantastic pairing to this song. Another standout of the song is the unique vocal delivery because of how they slide throughout the song. What we mean is they feel like they travel with the notes rather than the beat, creating a cohesiveness that we enjoyed. The vocals feel almost stretched over the beats, making a seamless sound. This worked so well because the pairing of the vocals and the music were perfectly selected and this deserves a big kudos. Cailo then magically appears in a supreme being fashion by narrating over this track, and this was such fire! You don’t expect it, and the mix placement makes it just right.
Then, in an amusement ride fashion, we are hit with unexpected drops, pulling with the force of a freight train of pure euphoria and electrifying our bodies. Cailo's production skills shine through in every beat, with crisp, punchy drums and soaring synths that transport you to another dimension. The way she's woven the original's essence into this modern banger is nothing short of genius. Want to feel the real power of this track, then wait till 1:55 when this song starts to pull a slight de-escalation, preparing you for the impending power break. Filled with ethereal and angelic pianos and pounding beats we didn’t know Cailo could bring this song to such heights. As the track progresses, it's clear that Cailo isn't just riding the EDM wave – she's creating tsunamis. The jury is in and this track is a straight felony, ready to serve decades! This production by Cailo somehow manages to feel both nostalgic and cutting-edge at the same time.
This remix is bound to become a festival staple, with its infectious energy and crowd-pleasing hooks. Cailo's taken "Beautiful Life" and given it a new life.
You need to crack open your gate kept favorite party playlist and add this banger “Beautiful Life” by Cailo. (yes that means share it too!!!)
A Powerful Quote from this artist:
“I’ve always been inspired by the positivity and energy of ‘Beautiful Life,’ especially during some of the toughest times in my life. When I was depressed, I would listen to Ace of Base’s version, and it brought me back to life. That song became a beacon of hope for me, and I wanted to recreate that feeling in my cover.”
Wait, there's more!
We caught up with this exciting and emerging artist, Cailo, for:
“The Cage” Music Blog, to talk about music and learn more about them.
Here’s how it went:
Begin Interview
Is there a story behind how you chose your artist name?
-It’s a pretty straightforward story, I just combined a few letters my first and last name. I just wanted something catchy, simple and memorable.
Ace of Base happens to be a favorite of ours and we were actually around but young when they first hit the scene. Your take on it is very fresh and unique. What about this song was the attraction to choose “Beautiful Life”?
-I spent time as a police officer and had a pretty insane career. Due to these circumstances, I retired early. I suffered from depression and PTSD among other things. To lift my spirits, I would play this song a lot. It pretty much embodies hope and the light of life. I loved this song so much, I wanted to create my own version and recreate that feeling through music.
What first sparked the passion of the journey to create music?
-When I was young, I sang in my church choir. My love for music definitely started there. Ministry of music was such a huge part of the service and it was my favorite part. I didn’t like going to church much, but I loved the music.
What emotion do you feel inspires your writing process the most, ie sadness, worry, happiness etc.?
-I’ll say all emotions inspire my writing. However, I’d have to say the feeling of sadness and worry inspires my writing more than anything else. There’s so much to write about when it comes to my life experiences.
Where do you create your music, i.e. in a home recording studio or with a producer? How do you finalize your finished work, ie self-mixed/mastered or another source?
-I create my music in a home studio. I sometimes collaborate with session musicians and vocalists. I usually work with an engineer to ensure I have the best mix/master I possibly can. I think it is imperative to get a second set of ears when it comes to my music.
What has been the most motivating force in creating your music?
-My outright love for music. Throughout my life, the ups and downs, highs and lows, I’ve always had music. It’s gotten me through so much. I can never stop creating music, it’s what I’m meant to do.
Which of your already released songs is the most important to you, or closest to your heart for personal reasons?
-Yes, "Traveler’s Hotel." I recently released the aforementioned song through VersaVibe records. I wrote this song at one of the lowest points of my life when I was truly lost. The country/EDM track is about giving up on life altogether and welcoming the feeling of failure. It’s about wanting to just be numb. The song has beautiful melodies, uplifting synths, and incredibly haunting lyrics.
Was there any song that you had released and then removed from platforms?
-Yes, funny enough I removed “Traveler’s Hotel” and it was recently rereleased.
What instruments do you play? Which is your favorite?
-Piano.
What instrument do you feel is one you want to conquer?
-Piano, haha. I’m decent, but I would like to sharpen my skills.
We have experienced that many people perform acts of selflessness each day. Once your artistry has reached far and wide, how will you use that more powerful voice to have a bigger positive impact on our world?
-I grew up in North Vallejo and spent time in law enforcement. As a queer black woman, I understand the needs in my community. I want to use my voice to uplift my community and help lift others who cannot find the strength to lift themselves. Providing a voice to the voiceless is a huge part of my life’s work.
