Begin Interview:
Hello, Happier, we’re thrilled to have you here for this interview! We've had an amazing time exploring your music and diving into your creative journey. Now, we’re even more intrigued to get a deeper look into both your brand and your personal and professional inspirations.
Q. What inspired you to choose the name Happier as your artist persona? How does it reflect the connection you want to build with your fans, and what personal significance does it hold for you?
A - I chose the name "Happier" as my artist name because it reflects my personality of being happy with my life yet I'm still searching along my path about what true happiness is.
Ironically, I use to perform and sing lots of sad and emotional songs during my livestreams and having "Happier" ,as my artist name, makes it more uniquely beautiful. It's also what I want my listeners and fans to remember about me, that on every sad and emotional songs there will always be a joyful and happy soul behind it.
Q. We loved the powerful but restrained vocals in “Curtain’s Call,” which really carried the emotion and let your lyrics unpack. When did you discover your voice, and what was the turning point that led you from singing in the mirror to recording for professional purposes?
A- I came from a family who loves listening and enjoy music a lot. Ever since I was child, I've always loved singing but i'd say the time that I truly discovered my voice is way back 2013 when I migrated to Italy. I remember I had this short music lesson at my language school and it made me want to continue pursuing music ,but this time with a strong determination of becoming a singer-songwriter and a recording artist.
Q. As a teaser description, what would you tell someone about this song to intrigue them about its meaning if you only had one sentence to get them interested in listening to it?
A - I would say that this song is all about closure, an end to a chapter of my life that I thought would have a fairy-tale ending but it ended into lots of realization and acceptance
that love could also have a bitter end.
Q. "Curtain’s Call" explores a cathartic journey of self-discovery after heartbreak. Can you walk us through how you approached this emotional narrative in your lyrics and melody? Was there a specific moment in your healing process that shaped the song?
A - When I was writing this song, I was in this moment of feeling lost and confused, like i had a lot what ifs and questions, about what I could've done to save my last relationship, because after years of being together, I didn't want to just let it go but at the same time i was becoming more aware of my personal worth and it became clearer to me that walking on the separate path was the only way for us to discover what we truly want to pursue in life and eventually move on.
Q. Your decision to record this track in solitude, late at night, with minimal production felt so unique. Such a stark contrast to the "entourage" groups and polished nature of much contemporary music. How did this choice impact the overall feel of the song and its connection to your personal experience?
A- Just like how our emotions work, I want this song to be bold and strip of heavy effects and ear candies because I want my listeners to feel and understand my unfiltered sentiment during the writing and recording process of this song.
I'm so happy how the song turned out, it was the way imagined it.
Q. You've mentioned that the song is a response to Taylor Swift's "Lover." We love this premise! What aspects of "Lover" do you resonate with, and how does "Curtain’s Call" serve as a counterpoint to it?
A- We felt a lot of strong emotional connection on Taylor Swift's Lover, making it almost likely like "our" song. There were some parts of that track that truly resonated with us like specially the chorus part and i took that section as my reference on writing the whole idea of Curtain's call.
Q. Not everyone may connect with "Curtain’s Call," as you’ve mentioned, but we can’t imagine who wouldn’t. What do you hope the song brings them, particularly those who might be experiencing their own emotional journeys?
A- We all have our own way on how to cope up and bounce back right after a break up. I hope that those who resonated with my song will somehow feel that not everything you lose is truly a lost maybe it's just that your destiny is even greater from what you truly think.
Q. Do you have a favourite song from your early years of listening to your favourite bands, one of your favourite artists you'd love to cover in the studio because it still feels deeply connected to who you are today?
A- Oh yes, I grew up listening to some bands from early 2010's but the artist that I felt like a deep connection is Ed Sheeran, his music style, song writing and the way he expresses his emotions on all his albums is marvellous.
He's actually one of my inspiration when i started pursuing music. I would really love to cover one I see fire or Happier by Ed Sheeran.
Q. Many artists hit a few walls along the way. Have there been times you questioned continuing with music? What helped you stay committed to your path?
A- Oh yes, I do and still have few walls here and there. But I always have this in mind that I have a time on my own, I don't need to rush just to stay relevant in the music scene. Plus I really take a lot of time writing my own song because I want all of them to reflect that feeling that I have.
Q. How does making music make you feel? Does this song come from a real experience, and performing it allow healing of the feelings that created it, or does it make them resurface?
A- For me making music is quite therapeutic, it makes me feel lighter and have less burden on my shoulder. Most of my song is based from a real experience so the feelings do resurface when I perform them but it makes the song more beautiful.
Q. We feel like we have learned so much about you from this one song, and that’s such a great way to connect with fans. But what’s one surprising fact about you that fans might not know?
A- I don't think I have a surprising fact about myself, I've always tried to be an open book to everyone. But to those who doesn't know me yet, I'm Gay.
Q. What are your top three venues you’d love to perform at?
A- I haven't performed in public in years but I would love to do it again! Probably some music bars, in the street and obviously stadium arena.
Q. Outside of music, who or what has had the biggest influence on your personal growth or artistic perspective?
A- I think it's people in general, specially those people around me, my family, friends , colleagues etc..
Q. What do you want people to remember most about you after hearing this song and reading this interview?
A- Hmm, I think i want people to remember that every song embodies the emotional sentiment of the artist(s) behind it, whether it's sad, happy, being lost etc. and it will always be beautiful because of it.
Q. And finally, what’s next? Can you give us the inside scoop on your upcoming projects and what fans should be excited about? We'd love to be the first to share the news!
A- Well i still have some songs to release later on this year, but for now i just want to enjoy this free will that i have while I wait for some bigger opportunity in the future.
Happier, thank you so much, we appreciate you taking the time to talk to us!
