Here’s how it went:

Begin Interview:

Hello Eoin Shannon, we’re thrilled to have you here for this interview! We've had an amazing time exploring your music and diving into your creative journey. Now, we’re even more intrigued to get a deeper look into both your brand and your personal and professional inspirations.

Q. We loved Highs & Lows. The delicate but powerful instrumentation was exhilarating. Additionally, your vocals are an absolute dream. The references to Sinatra are no exaggeration, and we have never made that connection before. Your deep, raspy, commanding, and soaring notes are hypnotic and mesmerizing. When did you first realize the power of your voice and creative expression? What moment in your life transformed it from a personal, intimate expression to a tool for sharing your story with the world, ultimately laying the foundation for the impactful career we see today?

A.As a teenager growing up I listened to the album Year of the Spider by Cold quite a lot, one of my favourite albums and I would sing along and I kinda thought I sing kinda like Scooter, and I loved the emotion, the music and his voice. I didn't hear of Nirvana until later but there is a lot of similarities between Kurt and Scooter Ward. I was blown away by Cold. I always loved that dark Tone in his vocals and the way he showed emotion/sadness/anger. A bit later on I was listening to Creed and Evanescence.

I think it was when I was trying to sing along to Amy lee I first discovered a bit of power in my vocals. Again such emotion and such an amazing artist. These bands were such a great inspiration to me and in helping me to shape and find my voice.

Q. What’s the overall message you want to express with Highs & Lows? How do you hope that resonates with fans?

A. In life there will always be lows but just remember there is always highs that come after. In this album there is more lows than Highs. In a way I feel we learn more from lows, we get hurt and never want to feel that hurt again so we learn a lot quicker from pain. Everytime we come out of a low we are stronger and also more cautious and wiser.

Q. When meeting someone for the first time, and they ask what kind of music you make, what’s the first thing you say?

A. Something that trys to feed the soul.

Q. Can you tell us about your full musical genre journey? Is this particular musical style something you’ve always embraced, or has it evolved over time from influences or other genres you experimented with earlier?

A. At the moment I am playing around with all sorts of genres. The first album I did was a folk album which is inspired by the likes of Johnny Cash.

I also love the Soul and the Blues as I think that's the type of music that shows the most emotion in music. So I really wanted to create a Souls/ Blues album as it hits different and it can be fun and more energetic.

Q. "The Closer You’re To God" seems to hold a special place for you. You’ve mentioned that it reflects both spiritual growth and life’s challenges. Can you talk more about how these themes evolved during the writing process? Was there a moment when the song came together for you in a way that felt particularly powerful or personal?

A. Yes at times I have felt like Job from the Bible, being tested and challenged. I think many people can relate. The hardest thing is when something is given to you and just when you enjoy it the most it's taken away. You just get a taste of pure bliss and then you're on your back and have to get up and rebuild everything from scratch.

I think this song is very much about someone like Job.

Q. You've been compared to iconic figures like Leonard Cohen and Nick Cave in terms of your sound and songwriting. How do you process those comparisons? Does it ever impact your creative approach, or do you simply focus on expressing your own voice?

A. I don't think I could ever reach such heights as these two Giants when it comes to writing a song, I have been a fan of Cohen for years but only up until recently have I got into Nick Cave and he's an absolute Rockstar. My favourite song right now that I have been listening to on a loop is Fifteen feet of pure white snow. It's such a great track. It has such a lift and the music video is amazing. I also love this is a weeping song.

when it comes to creating lyrics and a melody to a song I feel like it's out of my hands, like Matilda and her floating box of cereal, it gets planted in my head, I could just wake up in the early mornings and there is a song there I just have to puzzle it altogether and be sure to write it down ..Magic?

I don't know if it is but it makes the song original

And I just express my own voice and if it sounds like Nick Cave and Leonard Cohen at times that's a nice bonus.

Q. And finally, what’s next? We can't thank you enough for sharing these intimate details! Can you give us the inside scoop on your upcoming projects and what fans should be excited about? We'd love to be the first to share the news!

A. I continue to work with amazing talent I found across the world. I am so proud of Highs and Lows and it might be hard to compete with as it's such a great album, but I'll work hard to create something enjoyable. I always make sure each song is its own unique character and story and a bit different from the one before. I learnt a lot from the By the Way album by the Chilli's. It's the first CD album I bought and every song is unique and amazing in its own way. It's something I always aim for in making music. Music is such a great way to escape the chaotic world we live in.

Eoin Shannon, thank you so much, we appreciate you taking the time to talk to us!
