Trousdale is back at it again, and this time, they’re serving up a dreamy, heart-tugging anthem that hits way too close to home. Their latest single, “Want Me Back,” is the second release from their upcoming sophomore album, Growing Pains, and let’s just say—if you’ve ever hoped your ex was secretly spiraling without you, this song is for you.
A little bit pop, a little bit country, and a whole lot of feelings, “Want Me Back” takes inspiration from Lady A but with Trousdale’s signature harmonies leading the way. As Lauren Jones puts it, the trio had no idea where this track was going when they started: “I went into our recording session thinking the song would end up straight country, and Quinn and Georgia thought it would be straight pop. Our bassist worked some doo-wop into the mix, and we found something really special to lean into.” And lean in, they did—straight into our feels.
There’s something about wishing someone still wanted you, even when you know it’s not true, that just hurts so good. Trousdale nails that bittersweet, post-breakup delusion with harmonies so pretty they should be illegal. It’s like they wrapped heartbreak in a warm, nostalgic hug—and honestly, we’re not mad about it.
As if the song wasn’t already giving main character energy, the official video for “Want Me Back” fully transports us to a pastel-filtered, 80s-inspired dreamscape. Directed by the band and Aaron Kohn, the video features the trio in their signature color-coordinated fits, channeling soft, angelic heartbreak aesthetics. Picture slow-motion hair flips, longing stares, and just the right amount of vintage glam—perfection.
Trousdale’s full-length album Growing Pains drops April 11, and if the first two singles are any indication, we are not emotionally prepared. The LP was mostly recorded live, with a rhythm section that adds a raw, cohesive energy to the band’s already tight sound. Think sonic sunshine with a side of soul-searching.
And because Trousdale shines the brightest in a live setting, they’re hitting the road for their Growing Pains tour, kicking off in late April. The Boston show already sold out (no shock there), and other cities like Atlanta, Portland, and Toronto are this close to selling out too. Plus, they’re giving back—$1 from every ticket sold will support wildfire recovery efforts in California. So, catch a show, cry a little, and support a good cause? Say less.
Growing Pains is up for pre-save now, and if you’re a vinyl lover, don’t sleep on the limited edition, eco-friendly pressing (only 200 copies available!). Trousdale is out here making heartbreak feel like a fever dream, and we’re fully here for it. Trousdale just dropped an 80s-inspired, harmony-packed ballad about wanting your ex to miss you (even if it’s a total lie), and we’re already in our feelings. Stream “Want Me Back,” pre-save Growing Pains, and if you can snag a tour ticket—do it.
