Sleeping Fits delivers a dynamic, genre-bending masterpiece with Sleeping Fits.

We discovered the exhilarating risk-taker Sleeping Fits and his self-titled album, Sleeping Fits, and we couldn't wait to share the excitement we felt from his latest release. From the moment the album begins, it’s clear that Sleeping Fits is an artist unafraid to push boundaries, experimenting with sound and delivery in ways that immediately pull you into his world. The experience of listening to Sleeping Fits is nothing short of electrifying, with each track offering a new layer of depth, creativity, and magnetic energy.

The opening track, “Crystal Lizard (Was Gonna Be the Name of This Band),” sets the stage for everything to come, providing a glimpse into Sleeping Fits’ unique creativity and thought process. The title alone invites curiosity and intrigue, and the song itself delivers on that promise with a blend of retro and modern elements. The guitars, with their rhythmic drive and flair, instantly grab your attention, while the pounding drums and thundering bass create a bold, timeless feel. It’s the kind of track that, on the first listen, feels like a classic hit, brimming with potential and energy. But what really sets the song apart is the dynamic power of Sleeping Fits' vocals. His hypnotic cadence demands your attention, each word drawing you in like a cliffhanger. The gentle pauses he takes add an almost magnetic pull, while his intentional staccato and tempo shifts create a thrilling tension. The guitar solos woven into the mix, alongside the dramatic vocal runs, further elevate this track into an unforgettable anthem. It’s impossible not to be drawn in.

Following that intensity, “I Feel Fine” takes you on a sonic roller coaster, one where the seat belts are barely holding you in as you’re tossed around in the most exhilarating way. The grinding guitars create a powerful sense of movement, complemented by an innovative use of effects that twist and contort the listener's mind. But once again, it’s Sleeping Fits’ vocals that steal the spotlight. This time, his voice soars even higher, transcending the chaos of the instruments with an almost euphoric power. When the full band erupts, with guitars, drums, and a sea of frenetic energy, the track reaches a fever pitch, blending raw intensity with brilliant musicality. The combination of explosive instrumentation and soaring vocals is nothing short of electrifying, and "I Feel Fine" is bound to become a track you can’t get out of your head.

Then there’s “Sylphide,” a stunningly emotional ballad that showcases another side of Sleeping Fits' range. The gentle piano opening sets a somber tone, drawing you in before revealing the depth of emotion woven throughout the track. The soft, intimate vocals are delivered with a raw sincerity that tugs at the heartstrings, conveying a poignant story about the fleeting nature of a connection. This track highlights Sleeping Fits' incredible technical ability, shifting effortlessly between styles and delivering a deeply personal message. The way he communicates this fragile, yet powerful narrative is truly remarkable, both a testament to his artistry and a reflection of his ability to connect with the listener on a profound level.

Adding to the richness of Sleeping Fits is the exceptional production work that underpins the album. Self-produced and engineered, Sleeping Fits has crafted a sound that feels raw, organic, and unpolished, yet entirely intentional. The vocals cut through the tracks with precision, while the instruments feel grounded and authentic, allowing the natural intensity of the music to shine through. This stripped-back, genuine production style enhances the emotional weight of the album, providing a platform for the performance to truly speak for itself. The result is a listening experience that feels immersive and unrelenting, allowing every nuance to hit with impact.

Overall, we are absolutely thrilled to have discovered Sleeping Fits and his stunning album Sleeping Fits. With such raw talent, exceptional creativity, and an album brimming with standout tracks, it’s clear this artist is destined to gain even more attention in the months to come. We can't wait to dive deeper into his past work and see where his artistry takes him next.

If you haven’t yet experienced Sleeping Fits, do yourself a favor and take the plunge. This is one artist whose journey is definitely worth following.

“Sleeping Fits by Sleeping Fits is a magnetic, electrifying album that blends raw intensity with innovative artistry.”

Based in Guadalajara, Mexico, Sleeping Fits is the dynamic indie rock project of Matt Chabe, originally from Bangor, Maine. With a sound that blends the raw power of desert-rock with experimental art-rock and pop-infused melodies, Sleeping Fits emerges as a unique voice in the alternative scene. Chabe’s work is defined by its gritty charm and DIY ethos, a product of his desire to create music that feels alive and unrefined. The debut self-titled album, recorded in a raw, untreated space using mostly second-hand equipment, captures this energy perfectly, imperfections and all.

With influences ranging from desert-rock legends like Queens of the Stone Age and Truckfighters to the experimental later works of David Bowie, Chabe’s sound is an eclectic mix of fuzz-heavy riffs, off-kilter angles, and irresistibly catchy choruses. His approach to production is just as unconventional as his influences. He purposefully avoids polish and precision, embracing a more organic, "human" feel that lets every rough edge and sonic experiment breathe freely. “I didn’t want it to be slick; I wanted it to be alive,” Chabe explains. "The busted amps, the untreated room, the noise, all of it felt more human than perfect takes through perfect gear.”

Though Sleeping Fits is a solo endeavor in terms of songwriting and production, Chabe’s past experience in several Maine-based rock bands, including Marathon Man, Bangtown Timebomb, and Bad Island, shines through. His ability to craft both sprawling, gritty rock anthems and tight, infectious pop moments speaks to his versatility and depth as an artist.

Already looking ahead, Chabe has begun work on a follow-up album, one he describes as “tighter, with wirier riffs and bigger, more insidious hooks.” With such a bold and captivating debut, there’s no doubt that Sleeping Fits’ future will be just as electrifying. We're so excited to have found Sleeping Fits and can’t wait to hear more from the incredibly talented Matt Chabe!
