Begin Interview:

Hello SERAh, we’re thrilled to have you here for this interview! We've had an amazing time exploring your music and diving into your creative journey. Now, we’re even more intrigued to get a deeper look into both your brand and your personal and professional inspirations.

Q: Regarding your animated music video for In Front of Me, WOW! The quality was incredible. Such intensity, and the characters’ facial expressions were so emotive. They really felt alive. Were you the visual producer, and what does it take to make a video like this?

A: Yeah! I did a lot of behind-the-scenes creative direction for the video, but it definitely wasn’t just me. The team was amazing, — I honestly couldn’t have done it without them.

Q: The vocals from LLOVSA were stunning — so much power and cinematic energy. How did you two connect, and how did this collab happen?

A: I actually reached out to her on Instagram. She’s been near the top of my “dream collaborators” list for a while. Funny enough, this song almost didn’t happen — the first toplines she sent weren’t really my style (more major keys, slower BPMs…). But I’m so glad I gave In Front of Me a chance, because it turned out great. Lauren’s amazing to work with.

Q: Lyra’s World feels like such a deep, intricate narrative. How did you approach the storytelling, and what inspired you to create a vast, post-apocalyptic space universe?

A: Honestly, I was indirectly inspired by my mentor, Zack Gray. He encouraged me to think in terms of full world-building — rich lore, fleshed-out characters, the whole deal. He gave me a template for what he calls a “5D Brand,” and I took it even further. For me, that means SERAh-branded colors, visual cues, moods… the works. Fun fact: Lyra’s World was actually co-produced by one of the writers of Pacific Rim Uprising.

Q: Your track blends cinematic sound design with melodic bass and trap elements. How do you keep that sound cohesive while fitting the tone of Lyra’s World?

A: It’s really about being inspired by the artists I love — and still look up to. Ekali’s the GOAT for trappy rhythms, Taska Black’s melodic writing is so creative and dark, and Far Out, Nurko, and Kaivon influence a lot of my drops and synth choices. Referencing those sounds keeps me consistent.

Q: You’ve mentioned the saga is told through cryptic visuals and hidden clues. How important is audience interaction to you?

A: Huge. In Front of Me is my first release, so I haven’t seen much audience sleuthing yet — but I can’t wait. There are at least five Easter eggs and MacGuffins in the video. I’m curious to see who catches them first.

Q: The world-building spills into your socials as well. What kind of feedback have you gotten so far?

A: Nothing major yet — the journey’s just starting. I’m hoping even casual listeners get hooked enough to follow the story.

Q: Your sound has been compared to Deadmau5, MiTiS, Tails, and Codeko. How do you balance influence with originality?

A: Some of those comparisons are new to me, but I can definitely hear MiTiS and Codeko in there. The chords for In Front of Me were actually inspired by a Deadmau5 track — I bet his fans can guess which one.

Q: Lyra’s World is a 20-part series. How will you keep it consistent while still evolving?

A: Oh, it’s even bigger than that. The 20 videos are just the first installment of my “SERAh’s Cinematic Universe.” The next project focuses on Lyra’s older brother and younger sister — they’ll be introduced soon.

Q: Is the whole narrative mapped out already?

A: I’ve got the first 5–6 fully locked, and I’m solid through about episode 10. I’ve mapped most of it through 17 or 18, and then I might improvise the last couple based on where the story ends up.

Q: What’s been the most rewarding — or challenging — part of the process?

A: The most rewarding part is just knowing my music is out there, hopefully making someone’s day better. The videos give me an extra creative outlet, too. And yeah, it’s a ton of work, but worth it.

Q: Sci-fi and space stories often explore isolation, survival, identity. Do those themes resonate with you?

A: Definitely. I’ve always had this fascination with space and the idea of other worlds light-years away. You can create anything, without limits, and that’s exciting to me.

Q: How do you bridge your world to your audience?

A: Right now it’s all social media and Meta ads — mostly Instagram posts and reels. My label and my mentor handle some of the strategy, and I focus on making consistent content.

Q: Do the visuals influence the music, or vice versa?

A: A bit of both. For Lyra’s World, a lot came down to video editing — which I handled myself. But I think for Favorite Game next month, we’ll outsource editing.

Q: Sci-fi can lean realistic or pure fantasy. Where does Lyra’s World land?

A: Oh, it’s way more fantasy — maybe even 100%. I don’t think sci-fi purists would call it that at all. Maybe “space opera” is closer.

Q: Let’s talk about your artist name. Where did SERAh come from?

A: I used to go by Sera Hyndulla — a nod to Star Wars and a bit of a tribute to San Holo. But it was way too long for posts and lineups, so I shortened it to SERAh.

Q: And finally — what’s next?

A: For anyone in the DMV area, I’ve got a special debut set coming in early 2026 — my first as a full-fledged artist. In the meantime, Favorite Game drops next month, featuring Contessa, the antagonist of Lyra’s World. I can’t say too much yet without spoiling her arc, but she’s… complicated.

SERAh, thank you so much, we appreciate you taking the time to talk to us!
