Ruination delivers a powerful, soul-stirring album that captivates with its raw emotion and magnetic energy.

Ruination is a band that defies expectations. With their debut album, Everything Eventually, they blend hard-edged riffs with melodic undercurrents, creating a sound that feels both intensely personal and universally relatable. The album touches on raw themes of loss, redemption, and the inexorable passage of time, yet there’s a powerful sense of release and resolve that flows through every track. The band’s sound is vast, with soft, introspective moments rising into soaring, dynamic choruses, each note filled with purpose.

We spoke with the band about the process behind Everything Eventually, uncovering the emotional and creative depths that went into crafting this collection of songs. From their early days writing and recording to the powerful moments that defined their journey, the band opened up about their evolution as artists. What does it mean to create music that speaks to the heart? How does the passage of time shape their writing? And what personal revelations emerged in the process of putting this album together?

The members of Ruination shared how they navigate the balance between vulnerability and strength, pouring their experiences and reflections into every song. Everything Eventually is more than just an album; it’s an exploration of who they are as individuals and as a band. From the emotional toll of creating raw, vulnerable music to the energy of performing it live, the album stands as a testament to their growth.

Here’s how it went:

Begin Interview:

Hello Ruination, we’re thrilled to have you here for this interview! We've had an amazing time exploring your music and diving into your creative journey. Now, we’re even more intrigued to get a deeper look into both your brand and your personal and professional inspirations.

Q. We’d love to get to know the band a bit better. Can you walk us through who’s in the group, Ruination, and what unique strengths or creative roles each member brings to the table?

A. Hi there Luke Karolak Guitar, and Vocals (Me) Brady Weber Bass Guitar. Josh Brooks (Drums) we all have our strengths that we contribute, and bring to the table.

Q. After experiencing ‘Everything Eventually,' we were really struck by how emotionally raw and powerful the album is. Can you walk us through the backstory behind why you created it? What was the emotional place you were in when writing it?

A. We all came from similar backgrounds Musically. When we wrote Everything Eventually we wanted to write an Album that we would love to listen to, like some of our favourite Albums. Raw, Honest, and Straight to the point. Something we could replicate live, and enjoy playing.

Q. This album feels like a culmination of years of personal and musical growth. Looking back at the early days of writing and recording, was there a particular moment or experience that became powerfully memorable for you as a band?

A. I think from our first rehearsal it was pretty clear that we were going to be moving foward, and do something as a Band. It just instantly gelled Musically, and Personally. Definitely after that first rehearsal I knew we had something.

Q. With 'Downward' addressing themes of loss and moving forward, it seems to tackle some heavy emotional ground. How do you personally navigate these feelings? Is creating music a way for you to process these emotions, or is it more about sharing that experience with others?

A. It's definitely some kind of therapy, an exorcism if you will. Personally navigate the experience by living in the now. It most definitely is about sharing the experience with others.

Q. Looking at Everything Eventually as a whole, what would you say is the biggest personal takeaway for you from making this album? Did you discover anything new about yourselves or your music during this process?

A. Probably if anything we discovered what we already knew, and honed in on that. We work together so well, and respect each other as Musicians, and People. We were also very fortunate to have Mick Bristow from King Street Studio at the helm. Mick is fantastic. Very knowledgeable, diplomatic, kind, and his suggestions really shaped us, and the Album.

Q. Beyond the chance to connect with your fans, what would you say is your number one goal for this release? Whether personal, professional, or something else entirely, what did you hope to achieve with Everything Eventually as your main priority?

A. We just wanted to write, and record an Album that we as music fans would love to hear (as I said earlier). Something honest, something with meaning, and something that has high energy. I believe that we have achieved that.

Q. You’ve referred to this album as '11 statements.' Does that mean each song is an individual expression, or do you see the album as one larger narrative? We’d love to know more about how you see the relationship between these tracks.

A. The Album, and Songs do have a common theme, but each track has its own meaning, but as a whole they are all part of the greater narrative. Like a Story, with the different chapters.

Q. When you step into the studio and hit record, what’s driving you in that moment? Are you thinking about how the song will connect with listeners, or is it more about expressing something personal? What usually sets your creative intention when you're creating, performance, expression, or something else entirely?

A. More so we want to hear. The energy, and electricity in the room are quite huge, and as is the vibe. So there's definite expression, and performance. If we are feeling it, and loving it then we are 100% positive the listener will to. Of course to we are thinking from a listener point of view to.

Q. When performing such raw, vulnerable tracks like those on Everything Eventually, how do you maintain your own emotional well-being? Do you find a balance between letting the music take you to an emotional place and also protecting yourself?

A. It's all about balance. While living and breathing the music you have to approach it with a different mindset, and kind of live outside of it.

Q. Live shows have always been such a crucial part of your band’s energy. Is there a difference in how you present your live performances compared to the studio versions of your songs?

A. Well of course Live we are a bit edgier, but you only have 45 minutes to shine aha. We try to represent the Studio versions as best we can, but live shows are a wild beast. We pull it off though 😀

Q. Looking back at the finished album now, how do you feel about it compared to where you were when you first started writing it? Do you think your original vision for Everything Eventually was realized, or did it evolve in ways you didn’t expect?

A. Considering that we only set out to record an E.P maybe play a Show or 2, I'd say it has evolved well beyond what any of us could have predicted, but there's never been a game plan, we just rolled with it, so writing and releasing an Album was really just the next progression, and it fit in with what where we are at as a Band.

Q. We’d love to dive deeper into the story behind your band name, Ruination. What’s the origin or backstory behind the name?

A. We wanted some short, and snappy. Attention grabbing There were a few early candidates, which were less than amusing.

Q. What do you hope people remember most about you after reading this and experiencing your music?

A. That we are honest to a good Melody aha.

Q. We can’t thank you enough for sharing these intimate details! So, what’s next for Ruination? Can you give us the inside scoop on your upcoming projects, and what should fans be most excited about in the near future?

A. We are wanting to record a 6 track E.P to release, (to keep the momentum going) we already have 6 tracks selected for this. Another Video, then on to Album number 2 😉More shows, hopefully some festivals, and support shows.

Ruination, thank you so much, we appreciate you taking the time to talk to us!
