Odelet delivers a breathtaking vocal masterclass filled with heat, heart, and raw emotional force.

Odelet has officially arrived with Raindance, a stunning new body of work that places her firmly among the most inventive and emotionally connected artists of her time. A powerhouse talent known for her genre-transcending approach, Odelet continues to expand her musical universe. This time it comes with the full force of analog warmth, along with the hazy, rhythmic layering of dub echoes.

The track “Know It All” opens the doors to Raindance with a smooth jazz allure that instantly melts tension. The initial rhythms are calm and assured, laying out a quiet confidence before Odelet’s voice even enters. When it does, she delivers a soulful, tender performance, laced with effortless precision and emotional honesty. Her gentle swagger and featherlight phrasing shift from whispers to full-throttle declarations, creating a kinetic energy that never feels forced. It’s expressive, free, and vivid, more like weather than a vocal performance. Each note glides, pushed forward by ghostlike percussion that supports her unbounded vocal exploration.

Layered into this arrangement are intricate drum fills that crash like waves while the bass provides the solid gravity to hold it all together. And what also resonates is how happy this track makes you feel. There’s a quiet elation that simmers beneath every bar. It’s not just catchy; it’s euphoric.

Following that sensation is “Dirge,” a slow-burning standout track soaked in heat and emotion. The vocal delivery is sultry and wounded, brimming with raw feeling and an emotional pull that lingers in your chest. Odelet leans into the vulnerability here. Her cadence carries that signature sway while diving deeper into something more powerful and aching. Each line cuts like a pulse, sending tingles up your spine and making you want to hold still and absorb every syllable. The sheer expression here is magnetic. It’s not just a song. It’s a performance that demands your full attention.

Then comes “Raindance,” and it’s a rhythmic detonation. Bright, syncopated beats snap with a dancefloor energy that instantly lifts the mood. There’s a Latin swing that gets into your bloodstream and makes it impossible not to move. The production lands with tactile force. Each groove invites connection, chemistry, and motion. And once again, Odelet’s voice emerges as the centerpiece, taking off into falsetto that feels like it’s channeling something out-of-body. Her long, spiraling runs are gravity-defying, and they land with clarity and heat right at the heart of your emotions. Behind her, twinkling organ lines ripple in perfect counterpoint. It’s the sound of creative control. This is an artist conducting an emotional storm while remaining completely in command.

Raindance is the product of a small, tight-knit creative team, each member contributing to the album’s sonic brilliance. Odelet, who wrote, performed, and produced the music, worked closely with Jack “riddim,” her longtime collaborator and co-founder of Everlasting Tape, who co-produced the project. Together, they captured lightning in a bottle. Adding his legendary analog expertise, Larry Crane mixed the entire album at Jackpot! Recording Studio in Portland, Oregon, bringing his meticulous engineering skills to every detail. His work emphasizes the dynamics of each track without ever losing the raw emotion at its heart, creating a rich, three-dimensional sound. The production is a delicate balance of precision and presence, where each element is given room to breathe, while still retaining the intensity and clarity that makes the album shine.

What makes Raindance truly special is the intentionality behind every decision. From pacing and phrasing to structure, this album was crafted to showcase both Odelet’s raw talent and the polished craft of the team. The result is a sound that feels both expansive and intimate, a triumph of subtlety that allows the music to live and breathe in all its complexity.

We were truly amazed by Odelet’s performance across Raindance. This isn’t just a collection of songs. It’s a full-spectrum experience designed for deep listening and emotional connection. The variety, the voice, the visuals, the mixing—all of it points to an artist at the top of her game and only just getting started.

With this remarkable project, Odelet proves she’s a visionary, and we’re here for every second of it.
