Begin Interview:
Hello Miss Violetta, we’re thrilled to have you here for this interview! We've had an amazing time exploring your music and diving into your creative journey. Now, we’re even more intrigued to get a deeper look into both your brand and your personal and professional inspirations.
Q. We absolutely loved the opening notes of “Power.” They created a beautiful entrance for your incredible vocal abilities. Your unique styling feels like something fresh and new, and your powerful and commanding, but also restrained vocals, showed a technical display of brilliance that we really enjoyed. When did you first realize the power of your voice, and what moment in your life transformed it from a personal, intimate expression to a tool for sharing your story with the world, ultimately laying the foundation for the impactful career we see today?
A: Thank you very much for having me here.
It's a very interesting question. I was always convinced about the power of my voice. I always felt that it was there. However, it has been hidden for a long time due to my personal insecurities.
About six years ago, I decided to pursue my dream of becoming a singer. I found a vocal coach, studied music, practiced hard. In the beginning, i was into making covers of famous artists.
Some time later, I realised that making covers wasn't enough for me. I wanted something more.
So, i decided to start creating my own music. I am very happy with my decision.
Q. Your style and presentation were amazing. Your sound is really unique, and it’s clear you’ve cultivated something distinct. Is this particular musical style something you’ve always embraced from the very beginning of your journey, or has it evolved over time from influences or other genres you experimented with earlier?
A: I am a huge music lover. I listen to completely different genres from rock to reggae.
I guess my versatility pushed me towards various music experiments.
At first, I didn't lean towards any specific music genre. I was just creating what felt right.
If you listen to my music you'll understand that I am very different. Today, I am rock and roll, tomorrow i am a pop diva. And that's OK because you can't feel the same emotions or be in the same mood every single day.
So, I guess my style was influenced by different music genres.
Q. Your latest release, "Power," is a powerful anthem about inner strength and resilience. How did the timing of this song feel like the perfect moment to release it, and what personal experiences shaped the message you wanted to convey through the lyrics?
A: Yes, "Power" came to my life at the right time. I wrote the song about three years ago. It was the time of change and inner struggle. I am glad that "Power" was released after that time. Now, I look at "Power" as a token of personal liberation.
Q. As a singer-songwriter, professional dancer, and award-winning beauty queen, you wear many hats. How do your experiences in each of these areas inform your music, and how do they shape your overall creative process?
A.Well, you know these different brunches have a lot in common. For example - creativity, performances, public appearances and last but not least discipline. If you want something to be done in a good way, you'd better be well prepared.
When you are active in different branches you start looking at things differently. I guess this experience shaped my character, which is now strongly present in my songs: power, strength, femineity, and a bit of mystery. Each experience contributes to my musical world.
Q. You’ve mentioned that the song reflects the strength needed to overcome challenges and move forward with "distant memories." What role do you think music plays in helping people heal and move on from difficult experiences, and why is that message important to you?
A: I must confess, I owe music a lot. Music and dance were there for me when no one else was. Art helped me overcome pain, loss, injustice, and bullying. That's why music is so important to me. It never let me down.
Music helps healing. It even keeps some artists out of troubles.
Q. With "Power" being an international collaboration, what was it like bringing together different influences and sounds from both Belgium and abroad to create this track? Did working across different cultures impact the sound or message of the song in any way?
A: Before the official release, the song "travelled" to several countries: Belgium, Russia, Germany, Cyprus and Ukraine. Sometimes, it's crazy to realise how one idea is able to bring so many people together. We were changing the sound, looking for the right beat, etc. I guess each person brought something unique to the creation of "Power".
Q. You’re clearly passionate about inspiring young women to follow their dreams. How does this theme of empowerment extend beyond your music into other areas of your life, like your role as a beauty queen or as a dancer?
A: It's one of my callings to inspire women to follow their dreams.
That's why I took part in pageants, both national and international. There's always a moment where you can express yourself and show your talents. I want women to stop doubting themselves. I hope that after seeing my performance, someone will join dance classes, start writing, start smiling, or just call a family member or a friend.
I also organize an annual belly dance event in Belgium. It's called "Oriental Cocktail ". It gives dancers a chance to perform and be seen. That's very important in our modern world.
Q. "Power" is a song about knowing and embracing one’s inner strength. How do you personally tap into your own inner power, and how does that influence both your music and your personal journey?
A: That's a really good question.
I love being inspired by people who have achieved a lot in life.
When i am down, i listen to people who stand out, read their books, or watch their movies. It gives me motivation to keep moving forward on my artistic and personal journey.
As i said before, it's important not to quit.
Q. As someone who has experienced both the pressures and the rewards of the public eye, how do you stay grounded and true to yourself while navigating the different facets of your career?
A: Maybe it will sound corny, but i have faith in the things i do. My personal growth helps me to stay grounded and not to be distracted by negative comments or toxic people, etc.
Even if my plan doesn't go the way i planned, i keep one important saying in my mind: "it's better to try and fail than to fail to try."
We all have dreams, but only a few of us take actions to achieve them. I prefer taking action in life. This is what staying true to myself means to me.
Q. As a teaser description, what would you tell someone about this song to intrigue them about its meaning if you only had one sentence to get them interested in listening to it?
A: The perfect song to reclaim your power.
Q. When you are writing a song, do you feel more like you're chasing something or letting go of something?
A: We chase so many things in life.
When I write a song, i feel more like letting go of something. For example: sorrow or loss.
But it would unfair if i said that I only write music to let things go.
For me, music is bigger than chasing or letting go of something. When i write a song, it's important for me to deliver a message to my listeners.
Q. Where does the magic of your music production begin? Do you kick things off in your home studio, or do you team up with an outside producer? And when it's time to wrap things up, do you handle the mixing and mastering yourself, or bring in someone to help perfect it?
A: I guess, i am quite spontaneous about writing songs. I don't need a ritual for that.
For example I wrote "Red Riding Hood" while driving.
I just pulled my car over and wrote my ideas on a piece of paper.
When it's time to wrap things up, i gather musicians to perfect my songs. That's a very enjoyable process.
Q. Let’s build a summer playlist around “Power.” What three other tracks absolutely need to be on it, and why?
A: If I could choose three other tracks
I would create the following summer playlist around "Power".
1. Calving Harris feat Florence Welch "Sweet nothing".
2. Lana del Ray - "West Coast".
3. Benassi Bros feat Sandy Chambers - "Illusion".
Summer is the most unrestraint period of the year.
There are moments when we are wild, when we feel super strong, we are full of energy (songs like "Sweet Nothing", "Illusion") and sometimes we are dreamy and tranquil like a soft wind on a summer evening (songs like "Power", "West Coast").
Q. Do you find yourself needing to push back against trends to stay true to your sound, or do you feel like the current state of music encourages innovation?
A: It's very important for me to have my own sound. Mainstream limits creativity. I am not against mainstream at all, but there must be a room left for creativity.
Q. Many artists hit a few walls along the way. Have there been times you questioned continuing with music? What helped you stay committed to your path?
A: Yes, I understand this completely. Being an artist isn't an easy path. When you dive deeper into the artistic world, many ideas or assumptions may easily collapse.
That's the harsh reality. It's important not to become a quitter. It may sound trite, but that's the truth.
That's why I wrote "Power". My inner power helps me create and stay committed to my path.
Q. What do you want people to remember most about you after hearing this song and reading this interview?
A: The most important for me is to spread the message about inner strength and power. I want my listeners to remember that they all have something unique inside. Use that power, fight your fears and enjoy doing what you love - that's the message.
Q. And finally, what’s next? Miss Violetta, we can't thank you enough for sharing these intimate details! So, what's next? Can you give us the inside scoop on your upcoming projects and what fans should be excited about? We'd love to be the first to share the news!
A: I am currently working on my first EP. I can't but mention that I enjoy every moment of this journey.
That's already sure that the EP is going to be released this fall. It's very exciting for me. As a teaser description of my upcoming EP, i would use one sentence: "Be ready to meet me on the dance floor!"
Miss Violetta, thank you so much! We appreciate you taking the time to talk to us.
