“Cougar Town” is a high-octane anthem that’s as irresistible as it is electrifying—Marc Daniels at his best.

Marc Daniels has just dropped a track that’s bound to stir up some serious attention. "Cougar Town" is the kind of song that walks into a room, demands a drink, and owns the night. With its electric mix of southern swagger, bold humor, and gritty guitar riffs, this latest release flips the script on what’s considered ‘hot’ and takes us on a wild ride into a world that’s unapologetically mature and delightfully real.

From Costco Sundays to Pilates queens in SUVs, "Cougar Town" paints a vivid picture of a life lived with confidence and a little bit of sass, an anthem for anyone who’s ever found comfort in skipping the chaos of the club scene for something more grounded and just as exciting. But it’s not all fun and games. There’s a deeper pulse to this song, a message about strength, self-assurance, and the kind of love that doesn’t need to shout to be heard. It’s a celebration of modern womanhood, where experience is treasured and age is nothing but a number.

We spoke with Marc about his inspirations for this playful, yet thought-provoking track, as well as how it fits into his broader vision as an artist. What might seem like a cheeky anthem at first glance has layers of meaning that go beyond the punchlines and fiery hooks. We dug into what makes this song stand out, why he’s drawn to confident women, and how his past as a frontman influences his current solo work.

Dive into the full interview below to hear about Marc’s journey, the fine line between humor and sincerity in his writing, and what’s next for this genre-bending artist who’s redefining what country music can be. It’s a ride you won’t want to miss.

Here’s how it went:

Begin Interview:

Hello Marc Daniels, we’re thrilled to have you here for this interview! We've had an amazing time exploring your music and diving into your creative journey. Now, we’re even more intrigued to get a deeper look into both your brand and your personal and professional inspirations.

Q. We love "Cougar Town," the story behind it and the heavy, blazing guitar riffs are so exciting. How did you stumble upon this ever-so-exciting town, and what made you decide to turn it into a song?

A: Cougar Town is all around us. Anywhere you see lovely women that capture the prestige that comes from real life experience. They know what they want and who they are and are not one for games. This is the type of women I like and the older I get the more I appreciate older women. With so many songs about spring break girls and generation Z, it was time the female veterans got the tip of the cap. They deserve it, and those on the sidelines not paying attention are missing out.

Q. We loved the humorous yet very relatable tone in "Cougar Town." Is this your typical go-to for your lyrics and styling, or is this song more of a one-off for you?

A. Oh yeah, this is right up the Marc Daniels wheel house for those familiar with my music. My fans know me best for my love of Redheads and Cougar Town shares a lot of similarities to my first hit Redheads. They are both a little raunchy but playful in their admiration of Redhead women and Cougars. I like to keep my music real and fun, and each song carries a piece of my true personality. The best songs are the ones that tap into your true self, and Cougar Town is another song like Redheads that just writes itself.

Q. "Cougar Town" plays on a lot of stereotypes, but it also seems to flip them on their head. What do you hope listeners take away from the song once the humor wears off? What’s the message underneath it all?

A. The message is simple, don't overlook a women with a bit of life experience. Being young has it merits, but there is a sense of peace and calm that come from women that have lived, laughed and loved a bit more. A maturity that should not be overlooked. With experience comes an ease of flow of life, and perspective. Two things that become a lot more important as you start to navigate adulthood. They are so much fun to be around and the have so much they can teach us about love.

Q. Can you tell your fans something they might not know about you? Something that might surprise them?

A. Yeah, I'm married to a Cougar! And to this day she still gets me going. When we both met each other we were both recovering from some serious relationship mistakes but 10 years later we have turned it into a beautiful family with two amazing boys. This song is as much for her as it is for all the other women out there over 40.

Q. Outside of music, who or what has had the biggest influence on your personal growth or artistic perspective?

A. Wow, that's a great question. I know it sounds cliche but it would have to be my Dad. He was such a strong and caring man and he lived the perfect example of hard work and commitment to family and country. The way he lived his life influenced me more than anything. The figures he admired, the pride he took in raising us to know the difference between right and wrong. He taught me the importance of integrity, and that really comes out in my music. I'm not afraid to show the world who I really am because of him and that's reflected in my writing. I miss him everyday.

Q. What do you want people to remember most about you after hearing your music and reading this interview?

A. I want them remember that I don't take myself too seriously. I do music for fun, and I hope my music brings them a few laughs, some fun and maybe a little inspiration of their own. I still have a normal 9 to 5 job, my family comes first but the music I write represents where I am in my current phase of life. Just like my last release "The Good Old Days." Cougar town is just another chapter in this incredible journey.

Q. We can't thank you enough for sharing these intimate details! So, what's next? Can you give us the inside scoop on your upcoming projects and what fans should be excited about? We'd love the readers to hear the news directly from you!

A. Its been such a pleasure taking part in this interview! You all will be the first to hear it but we have an awesome Music Video for Cougar Town coming out at the end of the month! You guys are going to love it. Also, I have more music coming early next year I'm so excited to share. A new song thats more dance and upbeat, something a little different then what I've done in the past but I think might be the best song we've ever made. I am so excited to share it with all of you. Follow me on my socials or other streaming services to stay up to date on all these coming announcements. Finally, thank you all for following me on my journey! -Marc D.
