With its off-the-rails high energy, “SPIN” blew us away. It’s just another hit from one of our favorite artists, Mara Liddle, and we’re so glad to have her back.
“SPIN” comes out of the gate swinging, and there are so many standout moments to love. Starting with her vocals, we’re truly impressed by the performance. From terrific soaring notes to an emphatic, rhythmic, almost percussive delivery that activates the senses, this is a dance-pop track you won’t just love, it’ll make any night out epic. There’s a very noticeable, high-quality level of intake on the vocals that showcases her front and center, and it pays off in a big way. They carry a true-to-life performance quality that highlights her high-level technical ability. With exciting production techniques, this essence is elevated but never washed away, a crucial element in maintaining the song’s quality and one that’s handled beautifully here. We also have to highlight how stunning her vocals are when they reach those awesome falsettos and highs.
Instrumentally, the track is clean and highly intricate, packed with layered elements that feel almost psychedelic in nature, moving through an exhilarating cycle of short bursts and rapid-fire flow. The synth sounds and elevated harmonies bring the track right in line with some of the best pop cuts in today’s club scene.
Lyrically, we loved the storyline. That moment when minds align and a spark turns into a flame is what makes a good night a great one. The lyrics and mood are set the second you hear:
“All night I’ve been thinking about leaving, caught your eye and I knew you felt the same thing,”
You can’t capture that sensation and excitement any better than this. Mara Liddle knows exactly how to lock into that moment when the heat is turned all the way up.
With all of this, the energy Liddle exudes feels almost palpable, carrying an authentic, raw, and organic texture that allows the track’s natural intensity to shine. Overall, Mara Liddle once again leaves us stunned and seriously impressed with this release.
