Ginko Bugs releases “Close In October” and it’s a rock and roll journey through love and loss.

With vocal stylings reminiscent of David Bowie and a beautifully layered guitar arrangement, "Close in October" by Ginko Bugs feels timeless and rich. The track echoes the lush, full-band sound of The Beatles, amplified by a lively horn section that injects a warm, dynamic energy into the composition.

The vocals are full and soaring, carried effortlessly by an eccentric, detailed musical arrangement. Each layer adds depth, creating an orchestral feel that is both captivating and elegantly styled. It's a song that builds with complexity yet remains accessible, inviting listeners into its intricate soundscape.

The story at its heart is one of hope in the face of lost love, with lyrics that yearn for reconciliation. The protagonist, reluctant to say goodbye, pleads for his love to stay just until the end of October, hoping they can find a way to be close again. It’s a poignant narrative, beautifully told with a unique style that feels both classic and refreshingly contemporary.

The production quality is excellent, with a mix and mastering that allow each instrument to shine. This track is a masterclass in blending intricate soundscapes with heartfelt storytelling.

About the band:

Brottby, Sweden’s Ginko Bugs is a vibrant international rock band led by vocalist and acoustic guitarist Lieutenant Bo Biloba, who formed the group in 2018 by gathering a lineup of passionate, talented musicians: Sargent Peter on drums, Private Tom on lead guitar, Private Key Winder on keyboards, and Private Barnabass on bass. Ginko Bugs combines influences from classic rock and orchestral pop to create music that feels as familiar as it does innovative.

Their latest single, “Close In October”, takes listeners on an introspective journey through themes of lost love, resilience, and hope. Produced by the band in Sopron, Hungary, the track tells a story of lingering affection as the protagonist pleads for his love to stay “just until the end of October,” hoping that this extra time will revive a once-thriving connection. The lyrics delve into the deep yearning for closeness and the fear of being left alone, capturing emotions with an authenticity that resonates universally.

“Close In October” features a richly textured arrangement, blending warm, soaring horns, orchestral layers, and a sense of theatricality that nods to classic rock while sounding fresh and original. Biloba’s vocals add another layer of intensity, described as having “a light rustiness” and “captivating vocal melodies” that draw listeners in and leave a lasting impact. With its intricate musical design and emotionally charged lyrics, this song creates an atmosphere that feels both intimate and cinematic.

Lieutenant Bo Biloba describes his songwriting process as an organic, almost mystical experience: “For me, like in every song I create, the melody, structure, and feeling are in the words, and after that, everything comes to me through some channel, like an energy wave, that I just catch and go with the flow.” His words capture the spirit of Ginko Bugs’ unique approach to music—a blend of heartfelt intention and unrestrained creativity.

In summary, Ginko Bugs is carving a space in the music world as a dynamic international band with a distinctive sound that marries timeless rock influences with a modern edge. Close In October embodies everything that makes Ginko Bugs unique: richly woven melodies, introspective storytelling, and a powerful musical landscape that resonates deeply.
