Before the song is over, you’ll feel like you’re being serenaded in a one-on-one performance and it’s so intimate as if the song was written just for you. The song is sprinkled with smooth guitars and a hypnotic drumbeat that keeps you fixated on every note. Honestly, you’ll want to be “yours today,” tomorrow, and every day after hearing this. When the song lands on that incredible guitar solo, it’s impossible not to be impressed by the sheer musicianship of the whole band. Major kudos to the entire team for a perfectly executed ending that leaves you hanging on every word. The production, mixing, and mastering are all meticulously done, creating a final result that’s nothing short of fantastic. This is the kind of track that demands attention.

Wait… there's more!
We had the chance to catch up with this exciting artist for an exclusive interview in "The
Cage" Music Blog, where we discussed their music and got to know them better.
Here’s how it went:
Begin Interview
You mentioned being inspired by artists like Eloise and Tom Misch. How did their influence play a role in the creation of "Yours Today"?
“Geography” (Tom Misch’s first album) came out towards the end of my first year / start of my second year of university. Going to Uni up in Durham meant a large majority of not only people from the south of the country (specifically london), but a large amount of people who liked jazz music. Misch was the artist that bridged both traditional jazz heads, and the contemporary soul pop of the london music scene. I found a large amount of love for both ends of the spectrum when he became the backdrop to my panic essay writing at 3am. Coincidentally “Somewhere In Between” (Eloise’s second studio EP) came out slap bang in the middle of my Masters, and added a more soulful vibe to my jazz set up. Eloise supported Bruno Major the night before “Valencia” came out (23rd November) at the 02 Forum Kentish Town, and that helped solidify in my mind why I chose to be in this industry… if not to understand all the diminished chords being thrown my way!
What is the spark that inspires your writing process the most, especially in songs like “Yours Today”?
I initially didn’t really think of it as a single for myself! Myself and my co-writer Darcy Blu started writing it as a song for sync: it was only until I played it at the top of one of my sets at Katzpace in February a) were people receptive to it and b) it has a certain “me” charm about it that I can harness! From there, the idea was to make it a duet with another female vocalist… but after a while I thought that I might as well be selfish!
"Yours Today" paints a picture of a whirlwind romance. What personal experiences or emotions did you channel to write this track, and how did it shape the song's direction?
As a hopeless romantic, there has arguably never been a time where I have felt the way that I described in the song! My more directly pop-based songs (such as “Valencia” and “Yours Today”) function to paint a picture of a world that I wish I’d live in, whereas “One/Two Summer Fling” and my next release “Go On Without Me” help to paint the world in how it really feels for me.
Can you describe the theme of “Yours Today”'s artwork and what the inspiration and intention were for the observer to absorb from it?
Sure! The photo itself was taken on Alexander Estate on the 23rd June 2024. The estate is famous in London for not only being an example of brutalist architecture of the 60s, but also the place where Eggsy’s family lived in the first Kingsmen movie. My photographer Jay Fuller wanted to take photos of me to expand his portfolio, and so did an entire 1,800-photo shoot with me pro bono, which was incredibly kind and incredibly productive! The photo in the cover art was my favourite of the 200 initially sent and edited. It depicts no-one else in the shot, and me backed-up into a corner, almost the antithesis of being free and engaging in romance (as the song suggests). And even though it is one of the most colourful but of artwork that I have, it still comes off as me still looking for love and having darker visual intentions. If you’re interested, the exact location of the photo was taken at ///rust.caves.fields (this is the What3Words location)!
Winning ‘Best Male Artist’ at the 2024 Radio Wigwam Awards is a big achievement. How has this recognition impacted your confidence and direction as an artist?
Honestly, it kinda hasn’t! I know that’s quite harsh of me to say, however I’m very self reflective as an artist, and this is one of the things that I’m most reflective over. Sure, it’s VERY NICE seeing the trophy in the corner of my living room and knowing that I worked really hard to earn that. But it came at the cost of me constantly thinking “Okay, now how do I BEAT that? What do I do to prove that I have grown from last year to this year?”. In some ways I have met and beaten my expectations, but in others I think I fell very flat. It’s only in the last two months (arguable, since planning and finishing this release cycle for “Yours Today”, and in my heart-of-hearts knowing that I probably wouldn’t be nominated again this year) have I been able to flourish with no pressure on my shoulders.
Is there an instrument you do not play, or play leisurely, but wish you could conquer?
Oh my god I wish I had learned to play the guitar! I love playing the piano, and I honestly couldn’t imagine how my life would turn out if I didn’t force myself to build those key skills when I was younger. That being said, when I’m trundling across London with my 88-key NORD - huffing and puffing through commuters ready to earn sweet-FA at some pub gig I’ve been asked to do last-minute - I’m wishing I could have chosen slightly less heavy and slightly more… maneuverable!
Which of your already released songs is the most important to you or had the most impact on your life or career, and why?
“One/Two Summer Fling” has to be up there as being one of the most consequential. It was the one that first gave me a “Track of the Week” play on BBC Introducing Essex & Cambridgeshire in April ‘24, and got me a lot of press attention from that. “Yours Today”, however, has been the most complete I have felt after recording a single. There is nothing in the song that I don’t think I could have done or performed better, I had a clear plan for the release and executed it to the best of my abilities (all while starting a new job!).
What is the live music venue scene like where you currently reside?
I do a lot of my gigging work in London, but I live in Essex: specifically in South Woodham Ferrers, around a 15-minute drive from Chelmsford. As much as I love the county I call my home, I must admit that there is minimal gigging opportunity there right now. The only live music venue in the county capital is always strapped for cash, meaning that the threat of it closing looms large whenever bands play or put on a show there. Essex is better for musicians closer near Colchester, ironically as you get further away from London. That being said, there have been great incentives to show Essex musicians off to the masses. Sounds Good Festival (a mini Great Escape) started this year, and I played the inaugural stage in the city centre! I really hope this germinates a new love for what Essex hs to offer
How would you handle traveling and being away from home for an extended period while on tour?
Being a musician is an incredibly lonely life sometimes. Going to-and-from gigs (mainly on your own) and interacting with loads of people that drain your social battery considerably is a VERY hard thing to balance. But in making other people happier, you make yourself happier, and - especially if it’s a show people have come a long way for - just being present is a present in and of itself.
Which musicians before you have helped shape the music industry and had an impact on your personal development?
I can talk about my musical inspirations all day, but in saying that I imagine we won’t have either time left in this interview, nor the storage space on your website to hold that! But in short, the musicians I meet when gigging and supporting are the ones that inspire me the most. Having one simple conversation with them before or after a gig could lead to an entire new world of gigging, funding or recording opportunities you never KNEW existed. And in turn, the incredible talent that exists in the UK music scene reminds me both that art is not dead (no matter how viciously the last conservative government tried to ram that down our throat), but is pushed further by inspirational individuals just making a difference in their own lives to be better artists. Spiderman-ing really!
What is the most inspirational thing a fan or anyone has told or shown you about your music, especially after hearing “Yours Today”?
“Yours Today” was made Track of the Week by two radio stations: BBC Introducing Essex & Cambridgeshire, and Future Hits Radio (an independent radio station based in London). I think when the host of the latter said live on air after the song was played “Dear God that was good!” did I get a feeling of how people were reacting to it.
