Natalie Clark delivers a high-energy hit with "A Place Called Home." The track's musical support is bouncy and synth-filled, embodying the quintessential "sound of summer." The song opens with a flowing, fast-paced rhythm, but what truly captivates is the singer's vocal range. Clark's powerful, high-quality vocals are whispery and sexy yet classy, sounding pristine over the track. The combination of musical arrangement and production is outstanding, making this song radio-ready.
The relatable and emotion-evoking lyrics and Clark's intense, high-energy vocals create an addictive listening experience. When the chorus kicks in, you'll find yourself singing along, whether in your car, office or even in public – it's that infectious! Check out Natalie Clark and "A Place Called Home" today!
We had a chance to talk with Natalie Clark about music and more, and we wanted to share our experiences with you, the fans.
Please tell us a little about yourself and when you started making music.
Hi! I'm a Scottish singer/songwriter now based in L.A. I moved from Scotland to the US after making the decision to pursue my passion for music as a full-time career. I've always loved music and in particular singing, but it was when I started writing songs that I felt that spark and was hooked!
What first sparked the passion for creating music?
I started singing when I was a wee girl and always loved it, and I started writing poetry when I was around 15 years old. Then eventually I discovered the magic of putting together music and lyrics and started writing songs. I love the process so much and after a while I realised I wanted to make music full-time and really give it my all!
Can you walk us through your songwriting process for this latest project? Where did the inspiration come from?
I wrote this song - A Place Called Home, when I had just moved from Scotland to L.A. I was excited to be on the journey but still hadn't quite settled yet or found the lovely friend group I have now. I was in this sort of inbetween stage of leaving my home in Scotland to pursue my dreams, but not yet finding my new home. So this song is about that time in my life!
Where do you create your music, i.e., in a home recording studio or with a producer? How do you finalize your finished work, i.e., self-mixed / mastered or another source?
I write songs anytime, any place! I usually use my Voice-notes app on my phone and capture a melody or lyric if it comes to me, and then I try and focus in on what the song is about, and tighten up the lyrics and melody. I co-produced this song with Todd Spadafore, an amazing producer in L.A., and immediately when I brought him the song, he understood the direction I wanted to go with it! We also mixed the song together.
What was the most challenging part of bringing this project to life, from the initial idea to the final recording?
Probably getting the vocals right! I really go in on vocal takes and will go over it a hundred times if I need to, to try and get it right! I always want to capture the emotion of the song, but also deliver the best vocal I possibly can!
What has been the most motivating force in creating your music?
I feel like there's a kind of magic in the process of songwriting and if I get some kind of spark of an idea, I try and see it through until it's a finished song! There's been lots of unfinished ideas and notes in my voice-notes or notebooks over the years, so I now feel a strong motivation to create and make the music that's in my heart to make!
Do you play any instruments?
I play piano and guitar. I started on piano and then realised guitar is definitely more portable when I started playing gigs!
Have you ever been on tour and can you tell us a little about the experience?
I opened for Indigo Girls on one of their acoustic tours and it was such an incredible experience! It was not long after I had moved to the US so it was amazing to travel and see different places in America I'd never been! Their fans were so welcoming and encouraging and it was such a beautiful feeling to share my music and have it connect with so many people!
What advice would you give your younger self and why?
Trust your instincts! I think we all have an inner guidance and instinct but sometimes we don't trust or listen to that. I've had times where I ignored warning signs or a 'gut feeling' and now I realise it's so much better to trust that feeling straight away!
What is the most motivating thing a fan or anyone has ever told you about your music?
When someone connects with my music or says it helped them in any way, it is the most moving and beautiful feeling! Music has been such a healing force in my life so to think that my music could help someone, the way music has helped me, is so lovely!
