An evocative and powerfully immersive moment from CS Hellmann that pours with beauty and emotional depth.
CS Hellmann released the EP In My Head and we are so excited to announce more amazing music to bite into. His presence always arrives with intention and heart, and this EP immediately shows how much artistry he continues to unfold.
The EP opens with “In My Head” and the energized and dynamically growing sound felt like an angelic experience that lifted you off the ground. The drums landed like ghost notes played in space, and the sensations this created gave you so much visual energy it was truly invigorating from the start. There is also a slightly infused dark wave element flowing underneath that we really loved. What also made this moment shine was how confidently the arrangement builds without ever overwhelming the listener.
"“In My Head” launches the EP with a rush of cinematic force."
Then CS Hellmann’s vocals enter, and they are ethereal and weightless in the delivery, but capture the emotion and feel of the song with tremendous power. This is what we have come to expect from him, but it also has a crisper, more textured tone that really shines. The emotional connection stands out as well. CS Hellmann opens up his heart and shares his most vulnerable self, and this becomes his superpower that we find ourselves attached to in a deep and intimate way. Following that was a surge of honesty that seems to move straight through you. By tearing down all emotional boundaries, he shows us we aren’t alone in our plight, and that alone gives us a sense of peace. It is rare for an artist to make this connection, but CS Hellmann does it effortlessly.
"CS Hellmann sings with a clarity that reaches straight into the center of your chest and pulls you toward him."
We can’t help but love that his delivery is 100 percent unique. The flow, cadence, and rhythm feel like a declaration that is offered, not forced. His confidence in performance is one we always notice as soon as his vocals land, and it is like a calming sensation you did not know you needed. We also loved how the title of the song and the whole idea of the experience of - living in his head - felt like once again he is sharing a piece of himself.
"His vocal approach carries a rare balance of tenderness and strength that feels immediately iconic."
Next, we heard “Love I Left Behind” and it entered with a more earthly grounded percussion and guitar element. The tone and direction here land extremely well to introduce the vocals, which were absolutely amazing. And what also stands out is how naturally the production sets the emotional tone before a single word is even sung.
“I’m trying to get sober”
These lyrics, for the listener, are like being hit by a train and standing up to find you are completely unscathed. Yes, you are ok, but only out of pure luck. It still happened, and the consequences should be bigger. CS Hellmann delivered and executed this entire experience in moments and left us realizing he is not preaching or looking down at anyone. He is lifting you higher by allowing you to climb onto his pain without any filter. This moment takes its place on stage as a voice to something bigger, and it is why we always connect with his music.
"CS Hellmann turns vulnerability into something heroic and unforgettable."
Then the vocal cadence slows. The energy in his voice drains. The emotion is not drama or performance; it is a diary and history of his pain expressed. The title once again feels like a chance for us to remember we too have stumbled, but we are not alone. This is the beauty of CS Hellmann, and this is the kind of truth that makes his music stay with you.
One major production technique we felt was super impactful was the sensation that the song was slowing as the story progressed. It mirrored that feeling you get when you drink too much, and everything begins to drag. It was a perfect dynamic that we felt was an outstanding creative expression. Additionally, the production ties everything together beautifully. The engineering is sharp, the vocals cut through clean, and every element sits right where it should.
"The production on this EP surrounds his voice with a warmth and clarity that heightens every emotion."
Once again, we walked away seriously impressed with CS Hellmann and In My Head. The performance hits hard, the creativity shines, and the risks taken push everything into a space that feels exciting and fresh. CS Hellmann earned every bit of praise here, and we highly recommend diving into In My Head.
